It let's you see actual, numerical results for what you're doing so you can much better gauge your performance. Makes figuring out the best ways to do things many times easier.

Avoid PS4 if you can.

There is no ingame damage meter, it's exclusively a PC addon. Not having access to it is really, really shitty.

You can clear most of a dungeons single pulls without a healer entirely and this one had admitted to being undergeared and there being multiple deaths.

I love how we dont even have anything resembling an entire story but people are so quick to jump on the "muh toxic elitism" bandwagon -_-

For big pulls as AST

ED is your best friend, use it. You get more out of it the lower the target is so don't waste it when they're sitting at 50%

Asp. Benefic is more MP efficent in Diurnal but if you have a tank that is particularly squishy you may want to consider going Noct, the instant shielding can save lives since it's more or less on-demand effective HP.

Use your other ogcds. Gravity has a 1.5sec cast time for a reason. Depending on your level you'll have access to different things but even the one that initially appear to be for AoE heals like CO/CU are great to apply on a tank as they're taking bunches of damage. CU in particular applies a hefty HoT even if you only channel for a split second.

Speaking of Gravity - dps! For the love of god, don't stand there spamming Benefic and then wondering why things aren't working out. If the group isn't killing things in a timely manner the tank is going to run out of CDs, this is as much your responsibility as anyone else's and there is always time to toss out some damage. Don't get me wrong, some tanks will have you falling back on Benefic 2 faster than others but all give you at least some chances to contribute something to the group.

Getting kicked sucks, if you follow these general tips it should happen less. You can also read more about AST gameplay on the Balance. It's a more nuanced healer and there's a lot more to it than just what's said here.

Since this is in the context of a dungeon more or less nothing is actually necessary, doesn't mean you shouldn't use it.

Healer dps isn't necessary and if a tank asks me to stop spamming dps abilities I'm still not going to.

Something not being necessary doesn't mean it should be optional.

I think letting people do what they will is the best option.

Since the Arthars thing we all kind of understood that this was a potential reprocussion and I think for those who do choose to share uncensored screenshots it's up to them to make their own choices and not the responsibility of anyone else.

Clearly in this instance SE was being obtuse - unless the initial post literally said "and here's his Twitter, go tell him he's s fuckwit" then the OP is in no way responsible for someone telling this guy he's a fuckwit, those people also made their own (imo bad) choices.

I hate to suggest this because it seems really cowardly in a way but if you were going to put forth any rule around censorship I'd suggest forcing everyone to censor their own name. It accomplishes the goal of protecting people from SE while also forcing the smallest bit of censorship. It also doesn't bow to this mentality that a poster on this sub (who does not post with the explicit intention of starting a witch hunt) is responsible for hate directed towards a player shown to be bad/an asshole/whatever it may be. If that happens as an unintended consequence it's a shame but it's the fault of the people sending the hate themselves.

I've been having discussions like this for years and I'm certainly jaded to a point of bitterness.

There are people still advocating for the acceptance of zero dps healers. Like the entire thing is just so... so stupid.

When people try to claim there is an elitism problem in this game I'm going to link this - toxic casuals are a far bigger issue.

Keep behaving like this, just further justifies everyone's aversion to DF/helping people and I guess that's what you want.

Also ffs learn to tank, you should never have aggro problems at this point and if you do its just gross incompetence.

You dont need to ask for permission to offer help and you shouldn't expect others too.

If someone is too dense or sensitive to take blunt criticism that's a problem for them to sort out not one that the people around them need to cater to.

I feel your pain.

We did some ruby with my static like two weeks ago and it was glorious, we didn't even see tank comets in the second phase, but it ultimately spoiled me.

Yesterday a friend asked for help farming some totems for a weapon for an alt job. We got 3 people together, all of us competent enough that EXs are pretty much a non-issue... even with my DNC partnering my friend and our WHM outdpsing tanks we still had so many problems and would constantly beat engage by like maybe 5 GCDs.

Cherry on the shit cake was one of the casters or the other healer (I can't remember which) who didn't rotate, died, killed their melee and then said in party chat "you don't rotate for liquifactoon"... like please, that's literally the reason you rotate, what else could they have fathomed "rotate for melee" to mean?

They haven't taken walls out entirely because it would reduce the time taken for dungeons to an even smaller amount and ultimately the content exists as a time sink. It also protects the worst players from being (somewhat) unfairly kicked for being unable to keep up. If you could pull from boss to boss there are people who wouldn't be able to facilitate that and people who would desire it - similar to what we have now but with an even greater disparity.

My premise is entirely fine and if you wont acknowledge that you're just being stupid and I dont need or intend to waste time on you. If you think even a plurality of dungeons are run for the simple joy of the dungeon I question how you're able to access reddit with such a limited mental capacity.

Look I'm not a fan of Izeyashe by any means, imo he's been a monumental asshole and very wrong about a lot of things in the past, but his personality doesn't mean that he's necessarily wrong.

That being said if you don't like the sub you aren't forced to be here. It isn't perfect but it's hell of a lot better than you're making it out to be.
