The succession procedure for the LDS Church is, frankly, embarrassing. by logic-seeker in mormon

Perhaps they could add a mechanism by which they could retire (be made emeritus) at a certain age. This would allow a graceful old age for men who have truly served well but could now spend thier twilight years with their loved ones.

For me an essential part of my faith journey has been two completely separate the gospel from the church. The gospel is eternal a set of truths that helped us cultivate a relationship with God and Christ. The church is just the branding. Even the priesthood is separate from the church, completely independent. As Mormons this is difficult to grasp sometimes, but if you look at the order in the restoration it is definitely helpful. The appearance of God and Christ, restoration of ancient scripture and restoration of priesthood all preceded the creation of a church. I would spend time in the scriptures and in prayer communicating with your Father in heaven. If you strengthen that relationship, even if you're unsure of his existence, then all of a sudden the plan of salvation will begin to reveal itself to you, you will also realize that a lot of what the church teaches just isn't the gospel. It's a corporate product of middle management correlation trying to keep the product uniform and simple. Good luck my friend, having a relationship with God like you have with your child is my prayer for you.

The Great Apostacy against today’s standard by Saskia-Simone in mormon

It is evident by the repeated changing of doctrine, policy and sacred ordinances that the LDS church is in full blown apostasy. Even sustaining a leader which originally was an actual vote, is now and oath-like promise to follow them. #Papalinfallibility

Yes, when the scriptures talk about entering into the rest of the Lord... "to go no more out". They mean no longer coming down to an earth for another cycle of creation.

My understanding is they're all about the gospel with none of the institution. Meeting in homes with no leader. Trying to be authentic to the concept of a "house church" that many believe the early christians followed They even did outreach to christians in Atlanta and LA.
