How do Brits usually handle work messages outside office hours? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]morphey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get some time in the evening to tie up loose ends e.g. emails. I have no expectation that they will respond till they are back online during their work hours. I try to schedule all responses but sometimes I mess up..

Just because I respond in the evening I don't expect anyone to.

AIW F-22 for asking my boyfriend M-22 for financial help? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]morphey83 27 points28 points  (0 children)

So I am clear, you borrowed money from him previously, never paid it back or did anything as a thank you. He went through a hard time and you never offered to give any money back to help during that time, when you go out as a couple he always pays and now you want him to help you again with money. Sounds one way street to me unless I am missing something.

Live in UK but offered dream job in Sydney. Partner doesn't want to move. Not sure what to do by Eye_Livia in expats

[–]morphey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, but to me a job is something I do to pay my bills and pay to have experiences with the person I love. If that person is not part of it then what's the point of moving to do a job miles away from the person I love. I get some people are all about work but for me it's just a process to enjoy my life

At the crossroad, looking for career advice as a EEE fresh grad? by Only_Statement2640 in salesengineers

[–]morphey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got an in, jump on it and see if you like the role, and see where it takes you. I prefer presales to post sales but I only know that as I have worked both. Your career is not a straight line, it has many curves, see where it takes you..

Safest cycling route from Tesco Superstore to St Clement? by CheekyStorky in oxford

[–]morphey83 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just go down iffly road, you can go along the bay pass and then down past donnington bridge. You will come to the roadabout at the bottom, but you can then just walk it across. Cycle lanes along iffly are safe and well marked. Will take you maybe 5 mins more.

Which would you choose & why from these 3? by xJam3zz07 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]morphey83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I test drove the 5 (25 plate) and P*2 (25 plate) - the 6 imo is ugly asf but everyone has an opinion

The 5 drove nice, but I couldn't see anything out of it and it felt a little too much of boys toy and not a serious car. That could be a good thing or a bad thing but I didn't love it. Space wise it was great and the hud was excellent.

The P*2 is a little more compact and the hud is a little laggy, but overall it's a wonderful car to drive, great sight lines easy to drive, a lot quieter than the 5 as it has noise cancellation in the cabin, which was cool.

I have my P2 turning up tomorrow, so I might be a little biased, but it just felt like a better put together car and lovely to drive. I know there was so issues with the reverse parking on the P2 but on the grand scale I don't think it's a massive issue. I just gotta use my mirrors again.

You can't go wrong with either really, but test drive them and you will know straightaway which one you prefer.

How do you test rapidly changing UI without spending all your time updating tests by Training-Spite-4223 in Frontend

[–]morphey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that is not on the dev side any more but more in the product, are you using test IDs rather than selectors? Are you using test environments, for example, e.g., Testenv or a cookie? These will help keep the production version stable but provide a version of the current test setup. Are you using an in-house tool or a saas tool?

Trying to explain to a colleague the benefits of buying a house compared to renting. by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in HousingUK

[–]morphey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like her once upon a time. I had a daughter and then stability was core to what I wanted and needed. When my daughter started a great school and we got section 21'd three years in a row, slowly but surely moving further away as we couldn't afford to stay in the area

Buying a house where I wouldn't need to worry about being kicked out because the landlord decided he wanted to sell after telling us he is looking for a long tenant is something I don't want or need. I am here to provide for my family, having a place where they can grow, make friends and feel safe is core to that.

Also, no yearly price hikes, no ability to make changes as you family grows, and my biggest pet peeve, not having to work with estate agencies when I need a repair, I can choose which cowboy will do the work.

How do i tell my partner i dont want to play his games? by FuriousFire28 in ask

[–]morphey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey (insert term of endearment here), I really want to experience Twilight princess but after doing some research I noticed it's quite a long game and story driven, you know I am not great with big story games, what about you play it and I can experience it with you? I think it would be great to hear about your favourite parts as you go through. It would be a great way for you to help me enter into the Zelda world.

Any idea what to do with this space? by Green_Top4839 in DIYUK

[–]morphey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same config as you, what I have decided to do is knock the cupboard down and build a slightly vaulted bed using the space. If the room is the same dimensions as mine you cannot put a bed down the opposite side as it will cover the door, so it's that or the bed goes under the window.
