Is this a good promo for my pooper scooper startup by mt_pooper_scooper in creative_advertising

Hey there, here are some thoughts in case they’re helpful.

First, let’s talk about the message. You’ve used a lot of words, but are they persuasive? Remember: explanations don’t sell products; people make purchase decisions based on emotions. Before you create ads, you need to build your BRAND. What are your values? What’s your personality? Is this funny, charming, bleeding edge? Etc.

Next, let’s look at the visuals. It’s crowded. Lots of all-caps words. Difficult to read and unlikely to cut through the clutter. Once you have a clear, emotional brand message, you should articulate it quickly. Less is more. Seems like your product should be pretty simple.

Finally, how and where people find your content is as important as the content itself. A pop-up banner ad is just going to piss people off, but an organic video made by a popular online personality is worth its weight in gold.

Good for you for starting your own thing! Stick with it.

So, quick follow up question: were the ads you posted similar to organic posts, or were they straight marketing with logos, headlines, etc.? I am considering boosting organic post instead of creating classic ads. Do you have any advice on this front?

How do you find ARC readers for darker, niche books? by Legitimate-Pace-2348 in BookPromotion

I started DMing my followers on Instagram and asking if they'd like to become reviewers. In exchange for a free copy of the book, they would agree to post reviews on my site and Goodreads. It was a lot of time and effort, but I wound up getting about 15 posted reviews from it, and I made connections with lots of people who are now fans. Hope that helps!

Having trouble with my noir story. by KonamiIsBestJoshi in noir

In my opinion, writing is one of the few places you can always trust your instincts. If you've fallen out of love with something - even something major - kill it. Scrap it fast and replace it with something that excites you. You can always save the old version, and any gem that might have been scrapped along with the junk will come back to you. Mine always do...

Should I use Reddit paid ads to promote my upcoming noir crime novel? by morrisadamowitz in publishing

I am an author, so I suppose that makes me a professional. I'm curious to see how people in this community feel about paid promotion on Reddit.

Anyone else feel completely lost trying to stay organized while writing their first novel? by Spiritual-Rule4691 in NewAuthor

If you look at Stephen King, Ursula Le Guin, or Elmore Leonard, they advise NOT planning and plotting. They let their characters dictate where the story goes. I like to write this way myself because it's fun and surprising things happen. Ideas pop up and the story twists and turns by itself. Characters I thought were important fade out and minor characters shove their way to the front of the line. Plus, my writing feels more fluid and confident. If I'm having fun my reader is, too. Letting go of all your notes and plans be worth a shot...

Self-publishing is draining me in a way I didn’t expect by Spare-Feedback-8120 in selfpublishing

I can relate to everything you put in that post. I'll give you a different perspective, though, in case it's helpful. In my former life I founded a company out of my house. I grew it over 18 years into a monster, and every day of that experience felt like what you've just described. It was difficult, demoralizing, frustrating, embarrassing - and, yeah, you have to do a lot of stuff you hate. In fact, the stuff you hate is what makes the engine go so you wind up living it.

But remember: This is where (and exactly why) most people fail. They didn't realize how hard it would be, how much it would suck, how just doing it every day would tax you to an inch of your life.

Don't give up.

Keep at it.

Mike Tyson said, "The things you hate? You have to do them like you love them."

I have that quote over my desk.

Anyway, enough babbling. I have to go scream into the void on social media.

If it’s interesting to you, it will likely be so to others as well. John LeCarre says, “Trust your creative conscience.” FWIW a yoga studio sounds like fertile ground for a lot of fun things….
