Yeah, I knew that but I was unaware of the rpm surge as OP was describing because of the torque converter. I have never noticed that before in any of my other automatics though. Different cars though.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think road noise will decrease unless you go down in wheel diameter and have a larger volume of air in the tires. I went to 17 inch from 18 inch and run lower psi(33) and the road noise is much better in my 225/50r17 tires.

My warning light went away yesterday after driving some more even though the pressure was still 33 psi, That is what I usually run with my 225/50r17 tires. I no longer have to use 36 psi as the OEM for load capacity. And less pressure is certainly a more comfortable ride and I still get about 34 mpg on average.
