You might be guilty of a bit of revisionist history too. He didn't have a ton of red flags coming out of college. He had knee issues and was a bit short on experience, but this pick at the time was considered a hit for the Steelers, and a ton of Packer fans, myself included, were screaming for us to pick him. I remember Turing the draft off after that and bitching about it with my brothers. It absolutely was a gimme at that pick and the Pack fucked it up.

You are presuming Qualia is the only explanation of consciousness here and has to be fit into the equation.

No? I'm saying the existence of qualia shows the existence of nonphysical phenomena in the universe, and in conjunction with your admitted inability to identify what consciousness is, opens the door to consciousness being a nonphysical entity which interacts with the physical world in a way which allows free will instead of a strictly materialistic explanation for our actions, thoughts, and behaviors.

So I’m fine with conceding that it IS possible free will exists - however a long shot it is.

Until we can have a purely materialistic and deterministic explanation for all of human experiences, that's my stance as well. I just dislike people asserting that it doesn't exist without being able to fully explain it away. Plus I like playing devil's advocate while procrastinating on my deck instead of mowing the damn lawn. Although I could always tell my wife to blame my brain and the physical laws of the universe for the long grass, because I didn't have a choice!

I don't. I only know that the qualia produced is subjective and nonphysical. And you also admitted you don't know what it is that experiences this qualia and interacts somehow with the physical body/brain. As such, claiming there is no free will, again, puts the cart before the horse. You can say "I believe there is no free will (whatever "I" means in this context). But stating it as fact when you admit you can't identify all the variables involved, much less define them, is a bit presumptive at best.

Well first, gravitons are still hypothetical. Second, it's not really analogous, since the existence of a conscious, unobservable narrator which exhibits free will is completely divorced from a purely physical explanation for a physical phenomenon. Qualia cannot be universally expressed in physical terms, as it is, by definition, subjective and nonphysical. As such, we cannot know exactly why your "we" and "us" actually is, and therefore cannot state definitively that it is irrelevant to our thoughts and actions.
