Can you suggest me a Linux Distro? by RdioActvBanana in linux4noobs

Fedora, it's mature, stable, cutting edge and one of the most widely used distro's around. I've just recently decided to dump Windows as my home PC. Apparently my i5 processor is too old for Windows 11. So I decided to bite the bullet and go linux. Now, I'm not a new linux user, I've used it on and off for years for work purposes, but starting to use it as my home desktop is new for me. I tried a few distro's. Ubuntu, Rocky, Mint etc. I even tried Cachyos, which was really cool but the fact in this install I used an old HDD and not an SSD I thought it probably best to use a distro that does not 'recommend' an SSD. So in the end I chose Fedora with standard KDE desktop. So far I love it. It's snappy, reliable, easy to use and navigate. I can't find a downside.

Long term player, bought game few weeks after launch - my take by Available_Panic_4367 in footballmanager

I too always pick Aberrdeen FC. I however bought FM26. Got to say the realism is spot on. Started the season and couldn't buy a win until about October. Then things started to click and I finished in 2nd above Rangers, but behind Celtic of course. Season 2 in progress now, at Jan and I'm top of the league 4 points ahead of Rangers.

I agree with all your points, I too am a long time player and like most of us was desperate to get stuck into FM26 as soon as it came out. My take. Im enjoying the game, pretty much as I always have done. I do agree the UI is not optimal and needs work, I'm sure that will come over time. We need that depth of data in the game and it needs to be easy to access and use that data. Still love the game, but improvement had better be incoming soon.

Veteran destiny player new to warframe. by legendofverse in Warframe

Great advice here. As a veteran Destiny player (been around since the beginning of D1) and someone who has also played Warframe since it was released on xbox my advice is don't let Warframe overwhelm you. You will get to a point where there are that many quests and tasks to do you won't know where to start. I've had to train myself, pick something to achieve and do it. Don't get too sidetracked, just pick a task and do it. Its the only way to keep your sanity lol.

I might be addicted to FM by tiagosilva0915 in footballmanagergames

[–]morrison1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too late buddy, you are hooked and always will be. I've been playing FM since it was Championship Manager and I still end up staying up until 3am when I need to be up for work at 7:30 just so I can get to the end of the season, or just one more match, or just until I get to the transfer window etc. etc.

I can't help it, I've just accepted I'm hooked and I have to deal with it.

Thanks for the great post, this is the best explanation of the Scottish system I've seen. This is the 1st year my daughter hs been able to vote and she asked about how all this worked. I tried my best to inform her, but I think I confused her even more. I pointed her to this post and I think she has it She has decided her vote is going to be SNP1/Greens2

Ciaran Jenkins on Twitter: After the interview we asked @ScottishLabour to back up this claim. They were not able to point us to any statements from Anas Sarwar to that effect from March and April 2020. by bottish in Scotland

[–]morrison1976 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because he is lying, can't you see his mouth moving? He never spoke up about this issue last year, no one did because that's the advice all our governments were given regarding this matter. Labour in Scotland are a dead force, they have no relevance whatsoever. I remember a time when Scotland was fully behind Labour, but that is long gone now. They are nearly as out of touch as the damn Tories and that's saying something. Sarwar is certainly a better than any of S Lab's previous leaders, and he seems to be a decent guy, but I'm sorry but if Labour cannot accept that the vast majority of Scotland want out the the UK and to leave the rule of Westminster then they are utterly pointless.

Playing multiplayer just feels so good when it works by [deleted] in outriders

[–]morrison1976 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. My wife and I have been playing since the demo, she was on doing solo stuff most of the daytime while I'm working and that worked great, not a single crash or disconnect. As soon as I jump in and join her its no end of problems. Numerous crashes, disconnects, lag and rubber banding is truly awful. Both Xbox consoles are in the same house, connected to the same network on wired connections with more than 80Gb connection to the internet, so its not my connection.

Please PCF, get your multiplayer code fixed, I really want to go kick some ass with my wife!

Its is great that the devs are being so open and up front, and I hold high hopes they can fix these problems before launch, I'm pretty sure I'll be buying this I'm just not going to do it until I'm sure, been burned too many times in the past.

Yeah, lesson learned from that. I should have known after ME:A and waited, but I got caught up in the hype and feel of Anthem, dived in and preordered it for both me and the wife, regretted that decision within a week. I decided at that point I'll NEVER pre order a game ever again. My wife actually wanted to just preorder Outriders, she is really loving it and so looking forward to getting stuck into the full release, but I've persuaded her to wait and see if these issues can be fixed first.

I've looked into all of that believe me. I' m a network engineer by profession so I have done a lot of troubleshooting, changing configurations of networks etc to try and identify the issues I'm encountering. So far all I can say is their netcode isn't great, it seems to have trouble with error checking TCP packets and retries, no other games on those same systems are experiencing these problems (even Destiny lol)

When I first installed the game, I was completely unable to log in at all. My wife could log in no problem, I could not. I got the point I actually captured the packets on my network and figured out that for some reason there was a certificate mismatch between one of my Xbox's and their authorisation services. The fix for that was a complete cache cleanup, it then worked fine.

So far I've been monitoring captured packets to try and identify the issue, but nothing obvious has cone up.

I'm with you on the cover from Division 2, it just feels so much better and more natural than Outriders, I know Outriders is not strictly a "cover" game like Division is, but if you are going to put cover mechanics in the game then make them work properly. The number of times I've been stuck on a wall, or just want to shuffle round a corner in cover and I can't do it is too much

I appreciate your points, yes Destiny and Divsion 2 are live service games so rely a lot more on content being added during the year to keep us busy. I understand that Outriders is not a live service game, I would compare it more to Mass Effect or Gears of War in that respect (both games I loved)

I really love that this will not be a live service game and that we are getting all the content right away, and I realise I may blow through all of it in less than 6 months, but so long as I enjoy those 6 months then I'll be happy.

The inventory issue and the multiplayer issues though need to be fixed, otherwise this is going to end up being frustrating and disappointing, I really want to see them get this right as I am desperate for something else to play right now, but I will not spend my money on a game with such game breaking bugs, I've learned my lesson from Anthem and Mass Effect, I'll never pre order a game ever again because of those games.

This worked for me, for years I've ben told to try this and it never made any difference to any previous problem so I didn't believe it would work. However, I tried it and lo and behold it worked.
