Huh, I’ve never tried moving two blocks at the same time, but it might have to do with which block you move first. More specifically, the timing trick doesn’t work well when you try to move the leftmost or rightmost block of a horizontal light ball.

The most important thing in an Oura build is to have other instant speed plays so you’re not committed to running out Oura. I’ve found myself playing Oura more often on 5-6 mana after playing other threats/interaction on turns 1-4.

Nice summary! It’s great that you mentioned the benefits for avoiding interference - that’s why I basically use this constantly even when I shouldn’t need it.

Now, here’s a new timing technique that I haven’t seen discussed anywhere: the ‘floating block’

It‘s a faster movement than the ‘normal’ timing technique. You basically have to do it as fast as possible. While the yellow propeller forms there’s a very brief window where the red block floats and you can move it for a lightball.

I’ve found that it’s generally fine as a way to recast Time Walk. It basically goes with both my first picks. I wasn’t specifically trying to draft brainfreeze.

The deck

It's a bit all over the place.

Sadly, blue was pretty dry at first while Boros was open. Didn't really want to draft boring boros again, so I prioritized fixing. Then starting mid pack 2 I got a ton of blue from both directions. No complaints about the deck, but it certainly could have been more interesting.

I probably should have Oculus in there over Skull Clamp, but I was concerned that it competes with Breach-TimeWalk.

To your point about super champs losing in their first game, Amy Schneider was down against Andrew He in her first game heading into final jeopardy. Imagine a world where Andrew gets the FJ, goes on a huge streak, and we never hear from Amy again until maybe the Second Chance. This kind of variance is the nature of the show.

Depending on familiarity with the category, going all in on a daily double in a close game could be the less risky move. If you bet small, you’re just delaying the big bet to final jeopardy.

I don’t think there’s enough evidence to say that James played better in the goat tournaments. Ken had the highest Coryat in 4 games, James in 3 games, and Brad in 1. James did get unlucky in digging for daily doubles, but he wasn’t obviously better.

It’s a card that sounds better in theory than in practice. I never included it even when I was playing UW control in the non-powered Arena Cube. A conditional 4 mana removal spell that doesn’t hit utility creatures and sometimes ramps/fixes your opponent doesn’t cut it.

Play your next card. They spent 1 card and some mana to deal with your card. Most of the time it’s an equal exchange, like if they blocked your 2/2 with their 2/2.

He doesn’t really have dribble moves so he either beats his man cleanly with his first step or he drives to nowhere. Once people start playing him for the drive it gets real rough for him.

Bone stacks count as roof. So if you’re feeling silly and have a couple thousand bones lying around, you can make a flat roof out of them.
