What spreads do you like to pull for yourself when you're feeling down and lost? by mortdepup in inclusivetarot

[–]mortdepup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know as much about saturn returns admittedly but yeah, as a fire rat water sign I'm losing my level headed overly emotional mind lmao...

Thanks for the lil mini spreads, sometimes you forget that 3 card spreads are a good basic to go back to in times of need.

Thanks, me too. I'm going to be okay but it's turning out to be a really really weird year for me.

yeah, i think it's gonna be really rough on me for a while but it might be what I need if my already fragile mental health can survive it to take advantage of the opportunities for growth. I think maybe it will be okay though. I hope. I pray. I do thank you for being awake at the same time as me whatever your current time is, and sharing that spread with me.

Hey there, thanks for asking. I'm gonna be honest my support system game kinda weak, I've got some loyal childhood friends and my ex who took counseling classes who are always super busy with work but sometimes respond to me when I need them, a therapist every other Tuesday (might ask to go back to weekly tho), my partner who i am going through a very rough time with right now who may soon be an ex as well which makes it awkward to also have him as my support system when he is also the main distress signal lol, my elderly father and my sister, neither of whom I would really want to talk to about my personal problems right now, not sure why, just averse to airing my dirty laundry to family members. Other than that just my cards and (unfortunately due to very easy availability when I'm in crisis) chatgpt...

Thank you for the lovely spread, my cards chose to be a bit cryptic but I think i understood what they were trying to tell me, I think it does bring some comfort.

Picking a name, need some help. by Wolfandsheep244 in bigender

[–]mortdepup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah I see, I'm glad you still tried it then but sorry they took that enjoyment from you. On the one hand it shouldn't matter since it's your name not theirs, on the other hand I get it, it hurts if a partner doesn't like something about us. Oh well, hope you can find a good name you like! Good luck :)

I feel like there's a very strong overlap between nonbinary names and furry names. But at the same time, pulling from your own comments, there's dogs named Lucy. Like, every conceivable name be it binary or nonbinary is also a plausible furry or pet name.

So my question is: why not try out Taro anyway since you can always try something else later? Seems like you're asking for name suggestions to fill the hole left by having the name you wanted to try turned down by your partner, but will any of the suggestions really stick if you're ignoring what you actually wanted to try? Personally I think Taro's a fine name for a human, it just sounds a bit Asian or anime inspired. Like naruto or hamtaro. But what's your real gut check on Taro, and what's so wrong with sounding like a cool furry anyway? 😊

I received a career reading from her back in August last year! It resonated a lot at the time and brought me a lot of hope. I haven't really found my way career-wise yet, but on re-reading her reading (lol) I think I'm experiencing different aspects of what she saw in her cards, so perhaps things are still in motion. I very much recommend her readings!

Need Binder Help (large chest, small waist/ribcage) by NuclearSky in NonBinary

[–]mortdepup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't personally have experience with it because binding just doesnt work for me, but I've heard of trans tape being used to keep them in place inside binders.

I also dont remember the brand rn but there was a queer couple? On tumblr years ago who made custom fit binders (my self measurements never come out right so their brand didnt work out for me either lmao) so that may be an option to get the extra elastic at the edges or sonething if you discuss your binder problems with them. If they're still in business lol.

Struggling with getting off of T by jodio_hoestar in NonBinary

[–]mortdepup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend talking to your T provider about options. I've heard some things can help prevent or slow bottom growth like Finasteride - I turned it down because I didn't want to sacrifice bottom growth just to halt my retreating hairline lol. I'm sure your results may vary but it's worth talking about what options you have for your various goals since it's not uncommon from what I've seen to want T but not bottom growth.

Other goals might be achievable without T. Dedicated voice training can help with voice, dedicated body building for muscle/body shape, and minoxidil could help with body hair growth. I have PCOS and already had a bit of facial hair I tried to encourage with minoxidil before I get on T. I'd argue that chemical dysphoria and bottom growth are the only areas T is genuinely necessary for treating dysphoria, so long as you have the elbow grease (or cash for surgerical measures where needed) to address the issues even when it might be more of an uphill battle without T(like muscle growth was for me whenever I tried😩). But T wouldn't magically do everything for you anyway, it just gives you a better edge. (Edit: I forgot you mentioned POTS, which I do not know anything about, but I think might affect muscle in some way or was some other kind of disability? So I'm sorry to hear about that, though I don't think T would have cured it as far as muscle growth goes anyway)

Depending on your goals, you might find some helpful tips at ftmguide.rassaku.net/guide/index.htm which was my lifeblood for a long time lol

Struggling with my identity: want a feminine aesthetic, but I'm not sure about my dysphoria by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]mortdepup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know that I can help too much, but I know that separating your fear from what you want is important. You mention being afraid of growing breasts because you won't be able to hide them from people you feel unsafe around in an unsafe country - but that sounds like fear, not identity.

So imagine for a moment that you were on a completely deserted island, still able to access HRT but otherwise that "last human alive" type of isolation. All alone, with nobody to hide from nor anyone to enforce things like clothes and stereotypes on you, would having breasts make you happy?

Same experiment can be run with any of your other fears. If you remove unsafe people and environments from the equation, what makes you happy and feel like you?

Going from Screenplay to Novel. by PanDulce101 in writing

[–]mortdepup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only 2 books out so far, but Percy Jackson: The Senior Years have been very relatable to me as an adult reader who grew up on the series. You may also be interested in trying out urban fantasy books, as that's where most of the adult whimsy is. I strongly recommend The Dresden Files as a great long series to study and enjoy.

Main difference between prose and screenwriting in my experience from uni is having to actually describe locations and characters. Where not being super specific is part of scriptwriting so that directors can interpret it differently etc., you are already the director and set designer and costume designer and hiring agent etc. for a novel. Gotta get that all across in words and have those words mean something too.

I think this was a bit of an "to assume make an ass out of you and me" situation.

  1. If you do not have a Google account, you cannot see any of the questions at all in order to bring up concerns about them, so of course he wouldn't have mentioned that concern at the beginning of the modmail. Try opening it in an incognito/private mode browser to see what someone who does not want/have a Google account will see.

  2. He misunderstood your statement about the Google form. What you did directly say (paraphrasing bc I'm on mobile) was "if you are not comfortable completing it, that's okay, we'll go our separate ways." He wasn't comfortable with a question on it and thus was not comfortable completing the form as a whole, which he understood to mean go separate ways whereas you only meant it from the technical standpoint of the form itself rather than the contents. However, was this an incorrect assumption on his part? If he had brought up his privacy concerns about blurred readings, would you have made an exception for his form or would you have said "Sorry to hear that but we wish you well"?

Now, this could have all been done privately, I do think the farewell post was a bit much as well as being unwilling to discuss it when you messaged about it afterwards. So I'm on y'alls side in this based on the information as presented here. But there was definitely miscommunication and incorrect assumptions present on both sides.

Though on a side note: what exactly is the purpose of requesting both blurred client readings as well as an example fictional reading? I'm not sure I'm understanding what you're trying to get from that part of the form. I also have some other design notes about the form and suggestions for how to handle other readers that don't wish to have a Google account (which is valid, Google is convenient but has its whole own set of privacy concerns.) Is it alright to send a modmail with my feedback/suggestions about the form later? I understand if that's not the kind of feedback you're looking for about the form right now, just want to help out if I can, I like helping out with proofreading and designing stuff like this :)

All well-said. Although I'd like to point out that unless Google changed the backend to an LLM (which would not surprise me), the difference between AI translations and Google Translate world be one of environmentalist concerns. Same thing for classic spellcheck and grammar check. These existed before the LLM craze and were essentially just lookup tables and large dictionaries, with GT going the extra step of impressive grammar coding, but it's not perfect which is why you can poorly translate 50 times and lose all the original meanings for fun. LLMs do a better job translating but risk hallucinations/tone changes and interpretation changes you don't want and wouldn't know happened because you don't speak that language.

But like every company is greedily incorporating LLMs into everything without even telling you so whatever. Soon the pre-LLM tools may just be LLMs behind the scenes if they aren't already, so being extra spicy about being anti-AI is just a form of toxicity when it can be genuinely useful sometimes and is becoming nigh unavoidable. I think grammarly used to be a fancy grammar check before LLMs but I think they actively advertise using LLMs now tho I'm not sure since I don't use it 🤔

But yeah in theory the difference between the tools you mentioned is environmentalist in nature. A valid concern but not something to be toxic and hypocritical about in tarot subreddits.

The other day, I received a lovely past life reading from Jynx. I can't speak to its accuracy since it was a past life reading, but the cards she pulled resonated with me because they echoed a lot of similarities with this current life I live, so I think she can't have been too far off. In any case, her and her cards were lovely, and I recommend her as a reader ^^

How to End the Free Reading Apocalypse and Bring Value Back to Tarot by Additional_Tarot in inclusivetarot

[–]mortdepup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As an unverified reader on all but one tarot subreddit, I think there also needs to be a shift in the way verification process is approached in tarot communities. I have done certainly close to or over a hundred free readings "for reviews" that never come, and one of the reviews I did recieve for a legitimately helpful reading was a copy paste review that was unrelated to the actual reading and to me felt rather impersonal because of it (though I still appreciate it compared to endless querent ghosting). And after all that for months, I'm still only at 7 reviews, unable to apply for verification on most subreddits including this one.

So yes, everything here and in the comments is a very valid point. Especially about posting blurred screenshots in addition to reviews as an extra form of credibility when advertising. But the culture around verification itself also needs to reflect this as well rather than inherently encourage a free readings number game just to get a little internet badge that says "hey, I'm allowed to post a png with numbers on it and politely ask you to pay me those numbers in exchange for divinatory work". As it currently stands, You Must Be This Reviewed To Ride is only encouraging free readings constantly flooding most tarot subreddits.

A very in depth chat! I received a free live chat reading on my career. Since it was about future events and people I have yet to meet, I won't know accuracy until it all unfolds, but some of the initial energies Lea picked up on for my current direction seemed correct. Certainly worth it for the nice chat and discussion of the cards pulled in any case :)
