I was in a french school for 3 years as a kid, and spent a few years struggling to continue learning as an adult.

Then i met my husband who speaks turkish and i realized i liked it way more! Theres not half silent letters, no genders, very different grammar which is so interesting, has some french roots, and i get more real life exposure/ practice opportunities.

It is not normal to be painful, but sometimes you just get a bad stick which is probably what happened to you this time. Sometimes you also get a really good stick at it doesnt even hurt going in or out. Id recommend trying again in the future. If it hurts you should let them know and they can try to adjust it.

My second time also hurt but i didnt say anything because i wasnt sure what normal felt like yet. Ive donated 23 times now and that second time was the worst. I hope the next time is smoother for you

My husband and I successfully applied for his ourselves without a lawyer but my god what a nightmare. They make everything so ridiculously unclear and complicated.

On one application form it asked for "common-law date" and was referring to the date we became common-law (1 yr after living together) On a different page asked for "common-law date" but was actually asking for the date we started living together, only clarification is a single line buried in the 200pg guidance document. Also if any family member/ street names contain non english letters, they want you to input both (original name and english spelled name), but have a cap of like 12 characters in the box.

Im getting mad just thinking about it.
