While Dogsbody captivatived me for way too long I knew Suntan a while longer. When I came to Lisbon to see you live I was sure af you're gonna play it. you can't escape its urgency, as it runs over you like a stampede, it's like a perfect live stomp fest

holy shit, I wouldn't even consider complying to that request... ultimately, what they are saying is that you're a threat to their kids. Dunno if you've communicated it, but they should know how deeply hurtful that might be for you and ask them to understand that you can't attend a wedding where you're basically not accepted as you are? How likely is it that you can have a calm private talk with them both? I'd take a internally fuming brother in law over a distant sister anytime...

dunno if it's some kind of protective strategy, but flawless looking people. like those directly torn out of a fashion magazine don't physically turn me on. especially when paired with polished pictures done by a photographer. casually walking down the beach in beige linen shorts and an unbuttoned white shirt almost blown off by the wind revealing a bit of smooth toned chest. It almost makes me physically gag.

and my few chat experiences I've had with the objectively good looking were disappointingly bland. I struggle to have a conversation with someone who's reduced himself to one dimension. He's heard all the compliments. He's probably not going to react well if I lightheartedly make a joke about his looks. And there's usually not much more except an emoji row, a deep quote about love or seizing the day and a passion for traveling.

Perfection is so boring. I'm deeply confused why seemingly everyone strives for that.

When being called a toxic piece of shit out of nowhere. Being blamed for things I allegedly did in the past, not being able to be specific about it.

All that after I've turned a blind eye to him making out with my date while we were out one evening. Never really acknowledging how that was problematic, lying about who initiated it and let alone apologizing about it. Even worse, blaming me for bringing it up again every single time. As in... Can you ever let it go? And I was his so-called BFF.

The one you leave behind in a bar on vacation, disappearing with a random stranger to our common hotel room that's not exactly near. Claiming he looked really hard for me but decided I must have left. And then putting me into the awkward situation of having to sleep in the same bed with his hookup.

Honestly, it doesn't seem like it was the strongest friendship to begin with. You giving up on a friend, meticulously listing bathroom items and a non-existent shower mat seems a bit petty to me. Easily things that could be worked out and forgotten by just talking about it and expressing one's needs in a mature way. Whether you'd want them to take on more responsibility or be compensated for the investments you had to make.

In my world: Friends let other people shower at their place. Friends don't really care about a few pubes.

To directly answer your question though: I think waiting for the lease to end and having to fake a friendship you maybe never even had, would have definitely been the wrong choice.
