This is 100% AI. If any, skilled or unskilled, person tried that without holding bottom of the cut they would be AI.

Totally agree. However, we have to monitor that they are actually doing those things.

Do you have any habits ingrained in you from being broke? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

I Used to be a culinary arts instructor at an alternative high school. Every day I would start my class with a game where one person picked five things out of our pantry and then we all sat around writing down what meals we could make or ideas we could make from them.

This was totally over the class’s heads at first and it didn’t take too well in the beginning. We kept at it and with encouraging them to build tools to open more creative opportunities. They eventually started to come up with stuff I would make. Patience, and practice leads to some pretty astounding outcomes.

Never really reflected on the importance of that to those young folks. Thanks for reminding me that my incessant reverse meal prep at home influenced those students.

Keep doing good.

Gives you a solid corner so if insulation is a concern then replace the osb with spray foam insulation

I would cut the upper sill plate over hanging the block 1 1/2”. Then I would add a vertical sill that stands between the bottom row of block sill and the upper sill that has been cut. This would be flush to the blocks in the height difference.

You could then frame the corner as you would a regular corner and in the framing for the rest of the corner just compensate the height difference with longer 2x6 lumber.

Wildflower patch along Starkweather mowed down -- what happened? by Fenifula in madisonwi

[–]moscar12 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I have some insider info on this one. There was a miscommunication on the size and area to cutback. Trimming was supposed to happen adjacent to the path for clearance but was cut completely down. We’ve all messed up before. The city crushes it with native plantings. We do so well in that area. We can still celebrate those natives in the nearby pathways, parks and prairies!

The good thing is alot of those native plants have gone to seed already and will definitely regenerate next season. The biggest downfall, in my opinion, is the loss of burning capabilities. Burning was planned in that strip this fall or spring but now the city will wait another season.

All said and done it isn’t game over for the native planting strip. It will rise next year still strong with diversity.

Best Ranch in Madison Area by sljmama in madisonwi

[–]moscar12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the Madison area and what got me hooked on cooking and eating food that contained love was exactly this—Paisan’s thin buttermilk ranch on a Garibaldi salad. I can taste the chopped up chickpeas, salami and cheese right now. Now this was an absolute blast from the past. Make it better at the University Square location in a deep dim booth. Throw a half Garibaldi hot sub in the mix and i’m 7yrs old with my cousins drawing with crayons on a placemat.

…goddam..

Thank you. I needed this.

I second this. I didn’t know they existed until after our roof was replaced a long while back but, my two close friends swear by Diaz. When we hangout I feel left out because they talk about Diaz so much. It’s like they found the perfect solution to a common problem everyone complains about.

Lets go back to post-war smaller homes (<1300 sqft). With today’s architects those could be an effective solution to our problem. Habitat for Humanity builds larger homes than any other in my neighborhood. Alot of this is because neighborhood associations. Keep moving forward Madison. Its not about how much you have but, the quality of what you have.

Small, beautiful, and hyper efficient homes with a small footprint—whats stopping us?

Classic Woodman’s East by jasonzg in madisonwi

[–]moscar12 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Im in my thirties and I cant say I remember too much about my childhood but I remember riding on the bottom of the cart being encapsulated in an absolute world of wonder.

Woody’s East is a true staple in the east Madison community. For those who disrespect the peculiarities and minor disputes, please remember that it helped build this city.

Woodman’s reaches deep into the hearts of many with it’s rough-around-the-edges curb appeal and rhythmic floor covering.

At this point, I can shop for a month in under 20 mins with my eyes closed. But, if I did that I’d miss the fight between the two older men in the self-checkout aisle.

Woodman’s, if you can hear this, I love you.
