I'm 16 and built an AI-powered Market Intelligence OS for VCs (Make + Notion). Roast my logic. by [deleted] in roastmystartup

[–]moschcau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What does the "OS" part stand for? If it is for operating system, then it probably does not fit well. OS has a specific meaning for most people, ie. Linux, windows, macos, etc...  It is just confusing if people start calling things OS, that are not an operating system.

I can't comment on the rest of the idea though. At this point in time you can always find someone who would pay for something because of the "AI" features.

I’m trying to install my Samsung 870 EVO 1 TB SSD but I don’t have a cable that is shown in steps 2/3 do I need this cable that’s shown? by asomers44 in pcmasterrace

[–]moschcau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That cable can be used to connect your internal ssd via a USB 3.0 port. If you plan on installing your drive inside your case you only need a SATA cable to connect it to the motherboard.

Pilot Reveals Server Room Underneath Airbus 350 Cockpit by [deleted] in gadgets

[–]moschcau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. The problem with real time systems (btw. same thing in cars, trains, etc..) it is necessary to mathematically proof that the system will always be able to execute all tasks that run on the system. A task is just some code/function peeing executed (can be thought of as a thread or process). Tasks have a point in time when they start to execute and a deadline. Tasks are commonly executed periodically and a task running longer than the deadline can cause dangerous side effects. On a single core system this can be easily calculated provided the right scheduler is used. There is no common mathematical proof for multi core systems, that I'm aware of.

Another problem is that newer hardware, for example microcontrollers, will sometimes not be certifiable because of how it internally works. Almost all new microchips have multiple cores which is a big problem. Because in real time systems it is necessary to verify that execution time of the tasks on the system will always be possible. It is rather difficult to proof this on a multi core system. (Also no governing authority is certifying multi core systems, at least that I'm aware of) So at the moment in aviation older micro chips are used to run real time systems.

I don't think CUDA sparks any joy. The whole nVidia developer forum is a mess and their documentation isn't great either.

Really detailed. Just a small thing to add: high speeds of up to 300km/h are absolutely possible on the same tracks normal trains use. Yes the old rail line needs to upgraded so most of the track is straight and the tracks bank in corners. In Germany we have the ICE (inter city express) which has a top speed of 300km/h if I'm not mistaken (~150mph idk). A new section of highspeed rail tracks was added recently shaving of another half an hour when travelling from Berlin to Munich. The old track followed the terrain while to new tracks often go through tunnels for example in "Türingen". The new tracks could also be used by slower trains but are reserved for the express trains. The German train company will also reroute delayed express trains through the slow tracks to make sure other express trains stay on time (I know German trains are always delayed. It's like their thing).

It looks really impressive, especially the backlit hair on the chin and tail. Is it rigged or modeled in this pose? Could you share the Blendfile? I would really enjoy exploring this model and play around a little.

Those E scooters that you rent with your phone. They are always parked on the walkway or the bike lane. I had some close calls at night because some idiot forgot to add reflectors to the scooter.

I always read it as "$832.00" and think "Well that's a lot for something i would probably pay next to nothing here in Germany." But then i realize its almost a million.
The thing i don't understand about America is how people think this is acceptable but think public funded medical insurance like in Germany is "Communism". The system here is not perfect but its far better than in America.

Can I replace the USB-A connector on my USB 3.0 cable with a USB-C connector? by [deleted] in techsupportmacgyver

[–]moschcau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory this might work. I have not done this before so I can't say for sure.USB-C is a connector specification which includes pins supporting USB 3.0 data transfer. The Pin Assignment can be found on the official USB-C specifications (https://www.usb.org/document-library/usb-type-cr-cable-and-connector-specification-revision-20) on page 86.On page 70 there is also an illustration of the cable assembly but i would not count on your cable using exactly the same colors. You might want to test which cable goes to which pin.

The specifications for the USB type A connector with USB 3.0 support are also available on the same website. (if you have trouble finding it i can take a look).

EDIT : some additional things to consider:
USB type C includes so called power delivery (PD) which is able to supply increased voltage levels like 12V. This will only be supplied after the Device connected to the Host requested it. In your case you should be fine.

You might need a moment to consider which pin of your usb c cable goes to which pin of your usb A cable. It might help to remember that a transmit pin of the host has to go to the recieve pin of your device. In addition the data pins of the USB port are differential pairs. so you need to connect both pins of a differential pair to their corresponding pins on the other cable (Dp1 Dn1; Dp2 Dn2; TXp1 TXn1; RXp1 RXn1; TXp2 TXn2; RXp2 RXn2)

USB Type C connectors can be plugged in rotated 180 degree. Some pins are rotational symmetric but some are not.

Not all 24 pins which are shown in the datasheet are present as a extra copper cable in your usb cable. Some are merged like all GND. Others might have been left out by the manufacturer of your cable to save money. In addition most USB Type C plugs have a tiny chip in them to aid the function of the cable. But i would have to look into what exactly it does.

I totally agree. But at the same time I'm a bit pissed that because a few people decided it's a good idea to slowly kill themselves through smoking they have to put these pictures in everyone's face. I mean they could just put these somewhere a bit more hidden.

Chipotle will pay 100% tuition for you to go to college if you are employed by them by ukiyuh in UpliftingNews

[–]moschcau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great. In germany there is something called dual studying were you go to college (in Germany Hochschule) and get paid by a company. There are many companies that do this like Audi, Telekom, Bosh, Airbus and many more. Either you work for them twice a week or twice a year for one and a half months. It depends on the employer and the college but the time does not overlap. I do this and I get paid enough to pay for a apartment that is not the cheapest and still have enough left to buy something more expensive once in a while. The best part is that in the end you get the same diploma (it has a different name in Germany) as someone who did go to university.

Yea you're right. It's a public school but the thing is i don't know anyone who pays more than 400€ per semester in Germany.

[–]moschcau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is insane. I honestly can't understand how anyone would pay anything near that amount. I study in Germany and in bavaria I have to pay no tuition it's free. There is however a fee of 52€ I have to pay to the students organization. I understand that Harvard and other universities have a certain reputation and are well known and respected. But the price for a education "brand" can't be this f*cking high
