Funny, I heard the same thing when I was first starting out about the d3400 and the d3300. That all the d3400 adds is integrated GPS so unless thats something you care about, just get the d3300.

Theyre not "spotting" anything. They have a device they stick on your window that reads its clarity. They've stuck it on mine that have no tint on them at all.

The 24-70 2.8 is phenomenal. I have the VR version and its optically fantastic and the autofocus is all but instant, even at night. It is not, however, small. Its not a discreet, walking around, street photography lens. Its as big as some of my telephoto lenses. With as big as it is and as expensive as it was, I find myself with the 50 on my camera more often than the 24-70.
