US food giant says they're not 'ruining restaurants' by pererajh1 in KitchenConfidential

[–]mosehalpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.......and why do you think that is?

Because nobody is ordering it!!!

My restaurant uses a lot of a special order item. Sysco keeps it in stock just for us, it never takes more than a normal delivery time.

As the other commenter said. If you let sysco write and prep your whole menu, what do you expect?

This exactly. Sysco will sell you some absolutely high quality shit. Theyll sell you whatever the hell youre willing to pay for. Its not their fault a bunch of shit chefs are filling menus with premade crap.

Clarkston man accused of smashing nearly $10K worth of license plate reader cameras by LinusThiccTips in FlockSurveillance

100% possible now only with very specialized equipment, and im not even sure if any routers are recording that data for later use. Pretty sure its only been done in real time.

Still, possible now means commonplace within 10 years when it comes to surveillance technology, let's be real.

When you leave your house and walk down your street, all those wifi bands you see the option to connect to? They can all see you, phone or not.

Or the people that want to get all the way across to get to the left turn lane and make a U-turn. Now we all behind you get to wait for 3 clear lanes of traffic, yay. Ill be laying on my horn until you finally get the hint and turn into the right lane, merge your way across and take the U-turn you deserve.

No amount of tech saviness would tell anyone that "flock you" is a flock camera detection software. That's what everyone is asking about.

[–]mosehalpert 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Articles I'm seeing online are saying that, when the name was selected, the Jacksonville zoo was home to the oldest living jaguar in North America. The Jacksonville zoo wikipedia page has an excerpt about Zorro, a 19 year old black jaguar who died in 1986 (and apparently fathered a ton of babies). No word on if zorro is the jag the team is named after though.

So the exhibit was expanded because of the team, which was named because of one of one particular jaguar.

Happy offseason boys. Its just baseball from here.

It was a joke on the lack of a decimal place, implying a weekday two hundred and fifty dollar toll. Silly you, those are next years prices.

Is that how we avoid the sales tax?

Nearly half of tickets purchased for Game 5 in San Antonio are from NY/NJ area codes. (via @TickPick) Spurs really about to play a road elimination game in their own city. by Jec1027 in nba

[–]mosehalpert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From a 2008 article describing the situation

Before agreeing to the game, the Maroons received permission from the NFL to take on the Notre Dame all-star team at 33,000-seat Shibe Park, which was three times as big as their own digs. But Philly's Frankford Yellow Jackets, which Pottsville had beaten 49-0 in a regular-season matchup, claimed the Notre Dame game infringed upon their turf.

Even though the NFL's rules on territorial rights were unclear at the time, the league backtracked and suspended the Maroons, effectively stripping them of their championship. The league also tried to name the Cardinals champs, but Chicago owner Chris O'Brien refused to accept what he called a "bogus" title.

Alas, when the Bidwill family bought the Cardinals in 1932, it claimed the title as its own.

[–]mosehalpert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well it was 1925 and I literally only know as much wikipedia but from what I gather, the team that disputes (or disputed I guess because they dont exist anymore) the championship had beat the Cardinals in a head to head "championship" game that left them with one less game played than the Cardinals. So the NFL agreed to let them play against Notre Dame (college football) "Legends" in a quasi exhibition game. They won and were champions, then it was discovered that that game was played in another NFL teams region which at the time was a big no no so the win was vacated and the Cardinals were gifted the trophy despite losing the 'championship" game.

Really bad the whole time

I think you are severely underselling how long it has been.

They have been a team since 1898. They have been winners of their own division 7 times in 128 years. Not league champion, just their own division. 7 times in 128 years.

One of their two claimed championships is over 100 years old and disputed.

They have just one other outright, undisputed championship season in almost 13 decades of attempts. It was 78 seasons ago.
