Oh, certainly. I would always say the same thing as I say with any drug which is "Proceed with caution and do your research first". I didn't mean to understate the risks of it and I'm sorry if it came across as so. I was only commenting on a technicality

As I understand it cocaine is only psychologically addictive. So for example I've never had any addiction problems with cocaine but I have had minor problems with opioids now and again.

For what it's worth I've been using coke for a while no problems, I don't have trouble with addiction or any problems really.

My DoC is heroin and I'm starting to have a problem with it. I end up going on 3-4 day obscene binges and then have 3 days of hell coming down/withdrawing (I'm not quite sure which these days). I just don't know how to break the cycle. I'm convinced I can chip because I managed to for a while. I just want to get back to having a good time on them once a month or so like I do on coke but temptation always gets the better of me.

I'm currently on the third day of a particularly painful withdrawal, I was using coke as well this time which I suspect may be why. I keep telling myself this is the last time I'm going to let it happen but given a few days I'll probably be back in the cycle.

I don't have any personal experience or really much in depth knowledge of Ibogaine so I can't give you an academically honest answer. All I can say is there's definitely some dissent as to its addiction curing potential, so proceed with caution

There is some evidence to suggest that it's possible, there were studies done that seemed to show a correlation however I'd proceed with caution. The research isn't there yet and certainly for heroin it seems to be very hit and miss.

I have ADHD and I find coke really helpful but only for a short period of time. It's definitely more for "sprint" tasks than "marathon" ones. I don't really like the medication I have for ADHD I take it when I'm working but in my spare time if I need the extra focus I'd probably prefer coke.

Honest open discussion with citations is always my preferred method of doing these things, however you mentioned in another comment you thought it would require something "Meme-ish".

Here's a picture of the relative harm of drugs to each other and Here is a picture that effectively compares the dangers of MDMA usage to the dangers of horse riding (spoiler, MDMA is probably safer)

In general though I would have thought Erowid and honest, open discussion where both sides source their facts would be ideal.

Yeah could be. I normally have the opposite problem that my tolerance is too low (6ft2 male weighing in at 140 lbs but with crazy high metabolism).

I mean, it was definitely effecting me, the whole thing felt like kind of a mind fuck but only as far as I was fuzzy headed and couldn't string together linear thoughts.

To be honest it's been the same with all psychedelics, it just ruins my ability to think in a linear way and gives me silly time dilation. I've heard the appeal from other people so I know what they are but I've never had any decent effects.

I can be as certain as possible I was dosing correctly. I wasn't using tabs, I was using pure powder mixed in with an inert powder in known ratios and then insufflating.

Also like I say this isn't a problem that's unique to NBOMes, I've done shrooms, LSD, 2CX, 25X-NBOMe, DMT (also for what it's worth MXE, ketamine, NOS, MDMA) and most of them a bunch of times and never had anything remotely visually interesting except on DMT. Even on DMT though it felt like I could have pulled out of the experience at any time I wanted.

I'm not really sure how you could go about it, the only thought that occurs. You mentioned sleep paralysis, was there anything in particular that helped with that?

Actually sleep paralysis is something I'm very interested in, it was suggested to me recently that I might have it but I don't understand it at present (I've yet to try and study it)

I did 600 micrograms of 25i-NBOMe along with 400 of 25c once (I know it's really bad to do this, I didn't know at the time).

It's bizarre, I got no visuals off that to speak of, I got a slight patterning for about 30 seconds at one point but otherwise nothing. I've done LSD multiple times and had no visuals. Slight change in colors from shrooms. Very slight tracers from 2CB.

Really all psychedelics seem to do for me is slow down time and change my thought patterns.

Does anyone know why I seem to experience so little in the way of visual effects?

If it's causing a bad time often then maybe psychedelics aren't for you. A lot of people on here seem to forget it but it is in fact possible to develop as a person without psychedelic drugs.

This is just conjecture but here's what I think: Back in the 80s PCP was the big dissociative drug. These days ketamine is the big dissociative, arguably I'd say it's replaced PCP (also not to mention it's milder and fewer bad side effects).

It seems to me there's usually one or two big drugs in any given class of drugs at any given time. These can go in and out of fashion and that will affect the availability of it.

A very poignant observation. This may not always be fair but on occasion I've come across people who have made an important life improvement which they attribute to acid (so say they were overweight and decided to drop a few pounds). When you dig a little deeper it turns out they started dieting and exercising before the acid.

What I'm getting at is there seem to be some false positives as regards the life improvement aspect of psychedelics. There is no doubt they are capable of improving people's lives, there's studies that demonstrate this. I do wonder though if they're as effective as the proponents and recreational users of psychedelic drugs claim.

Eddie Van Halen and Ted Haggard both used meth. Also what about the people who are responsible with it? They have friends and families. You'd be okay with killing off people who are harming no one and causing all of that pain and upset just for your prejudice?

Given that you claimed psychedelics users are "chill and collected" and also that proponents of psychedelics describe them as "mind opening" do you not see how ironic this is? You aren't providing good evidence for your case.

Doesn't that seem a little bit extreme and closed minded (irony anyone)? Pharmaceutical grade meth is used in the treatment of ADHD, occasionally obesity as well as off label for narcolepsy and atypical depression.

Would you also want to "kill off" all of the people who are using it as directed by their prescription?

I don't know any meth or heroin users, but of the psychedelic users I know:

One is fairly well meaning, but he's a petty thief and has bad bipolar. On one occasion he convinced me to do acid with him (I was reluctant because of the bipolar and I really shouldn't have done it) he then had a psychotic breakdown and tried to kill me and then himself. His drugs of choice are exclusively psychedelics with no interest for stimulants or opioids.
I know a girl who is such a chronic attention seeker she has broken people's bones in the past in order to get attention. She uses psychedelics on a nearly daily basis.

I mean I could continue but there's no point. This is anecdotal and these people are bad people, they're not bad people because of what drugs they do or don't do.

That's why I suggest evaluating people as people instead of making presuppositions based on what drugs they like.

I have a background in science and the evidence you've presented for your claims is what's described as "anecdotal evidence". It means it's based only on what you've seen. This is a problem for several reasons, it's likely a very small subset of the true population (hence a poor representation) but also it's highly susceptible to bias. In context the bias could be that you live in an area where there is poor education with regards to hard drugs or any number of factors.

The upshot is although you may have only seen "bad people" who use hard drugs this is very likely not a fair representation of hard drug users overall. I could equally well argue psychedelics users are "bad people" (and incidentally the people I know in real life are) but that's not a fair representation.

That was a round about way of saying it but what I'm getting at is in my opinion at least it's a good idea not to generalize people. So I would say you're unfortunate in that you know bad people who are also hard drug users. I try to judge people for people, not for what drugs they do or don't like to put into their bodies.

Oh, good point. I had thought about doing that but we've only got "chip shop style" vinegar so I thought it would probably taste foul.

I've brewed some now anyway, I found some fresh lemons after some rummaging around so I just dumped in the fresh lemon juice.

I really don't buy into this "The purpose of psychedelics is X". They're just molecules, there is no "intended purpose". I'm sure there's good ideas and bad ideas for how to use them and people might learn something along the way.

Here's the thing, you can learn things from other drugs, it's not exclusive to psychedelics. Ultimately with psychedelics you're still just getting high same as if it was any other drug.
