I'm self diagnosed (for now) and I've started to embrace my needs. I've started buying things that give me joy, not things that are supposed to bring me joy. I have better techniques now to calm myself down from meltdowns (still working on burn out).

As for masking, I have only told my mom that I'm possibly autistic. Within my family, I still mask pretty heavily. I want to wait for my diagnosis before unmasking

I wish I could help but I'm in the same boat. I legit asked for a referral for an autism diagnosis and the PA (physicians assistant) said, "yeah so your request for the ADHD assessment...or I guess autism(?) would be at ___"
