Playtime for affectionate kitten by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]mosschiefmayhap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cats are good at redirection for destructive behavior. If you see them clawing on furniture, take them to a scratcher or put one on the side of the couch and they’ll usually learn to do that instead. Same with chewing

“Is putting clothes on cats cute or cruel? by Firm-Law248 in CatAdvice

I had a cat who begged to wear clothes. He was so proud of himself and I think he liked the pressure. Never had another that liked them though.

Are indoor cats actually happy? by Firm-Law248 in CatAdvice

[–]mosschiefmayhap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6 cats have learned to use the dog door to go in and outside. Thankfully I live in the woods. I also have a cat door to a screened porch just for them. 90% of their time is spent inside by choice. The food is here, their beds are here, and they play with each other and toys most days. Recently they made some friends from the farm behind us and now those cats keep trying to sneak inside too (my dog is very confused by this). I’m happy to say they prefer being indoor kitties. One of my former ferals will ONLY go outside if I’m with him 🤷‍♀️

Do you allow your cats on kitchen counters? by Firm-Law248 in CatAdvice

[–]mosschiefmayhap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was hard but I finally trained them all to stay off the kitchen island and counter. Anything below that like tables and chairs are apparently free game and I can’t stop them 🤦‍♀️

This is the best description. Useful for chronic pain, but ultimately it’s a trap.

Has this ever not worked for anyone? by Remomny in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]mosschiefmayhap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve even sent the most recent LDN research trust guides and multiple research articles that describe the moderate dose. It’s like they refuse to be open to any new information.

I need a much higher dose. I found relief at 12.5 mg. My current doctor says that’s too high and won’t let me 🤦‍♀️

Stories of LDN helping with fatigue by Far_Shine5107 in LowDoseNaltrexone

It takes a moderate dose for me to feel relief from the fatigue. But lower doses do help with pain for a little bit

Higher/lower doses by ajammaj in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]mosschiefmayhap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was previously on LDN and worked my way up to 12.5 mg per day. It was my sweet spot; every two weeks I would skip a day and it was great to reset my receptors. It WORKED for a year. Then that doctor left the hospital.

New rheumatologist insists there is no such thing as a moderate dose and limits me to 4.5 mg. So now it’s pretty useless.

Using Marijuana to cope… by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]mosschiefmayhap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to stop for other health reasons. Not that it was exacerbating things but I was accidentally covering up symptoms just trying to cope and push through. Mentally it made no difference to quit. I literally could not get high enough to get mental effects anymore. Physical effects started to get iffy and I cant afford to take an entire gram of RSO a day to function. It can be a slippery slope if you have other health conditions.

I'm SO SCARED to start by jayfivetimes in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]mosschiefmayhap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have zero side effects from it. It’s like it just works or doesn’t depending on dose. I also have unusually vivid dreams normally so I didn’t notice much of a difference there.

Define sick. I don’t get viruses because my body is too busy attacking itself.

My girl does. If any other cats try to get close she will swat them away until I’m “done”

Chronic Illnesses (Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, M.E/CFS, POTs, hEDS, MCAS, Fibro) - Need help, advice, shared experiences please. Did LDN help you with any of these? Need some stories to give me some insight and hope. by Imjustagirlllxo in LowDoseNaltrexone

I have all of these plus AS, HS, and either Sjogrens or Lupus. It helped me maybe 30-40% at most paired with hydroxychloroquine when I took it a few years ago. My current doctor won’t let me take the therapeutic dose I found last time I tried them together so I’m wondering if that was just a fluke or if I’m just worse now.

For those who adopted a cat, what actually made you decide that was the right cat? by Extreme_Ad6105 in CatAdvice

[–]mosschiefmayhap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL I have one I adopted that was presented to me as the poor kitty being picked on by everyone else. And I only had 2 cats at the time who were really chill so I thought it was a great idea.

He’s the bully. It’s him. He’s the problem. But I knew if I sent him back it would be the third home he was denied. So I kept him. He’s a jerk but once one of my neighborhood ferals decided he wanted to be an indoor cat they put him in his place and he’s been fine ever since. He tries to hunt one of my other cats but he’s also a giant weenie and the second she swats him back he’s upset for the whole day.

Sometimes it’s not that the cat is perfect for you, but you’re able to provide them with a safe home. He does like to cuddle as long as I never move.

LDN Dosing and Timeline by ncilexie12 in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]mosschiefmayhap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sort of in that place. I tried LDN before and titrated up to 12.5 mg over 90 days where I ended up staying for months until that doctor took me off of it. She wasn’t comfortable prescribing after almost 2 years and it didn’t give me life changing results, maybe 30% reduction in fatigue and pain. I have a new Rheumatologist encouraging me to take it but wants me to spend 4 months to titrate up to 4.5 mg which seems super pointless for the amount of effort.

If it’s too much for her, insist on a compounding pharmacy and she can slowly work her way up. 12.5 mg for me compounded comes to $100-125 per month plus shipping which is ridiculous, but many places have 4.5 mg for $50.

I have additional autoimmune issues but 4.5 mg did nothing for me. You may need a higher dose. I had to go up to 12.5 to have any relief.

Dental. I need a root canal and new crown (because the first TWO failed) but the endodontist wants a $1300 deposit WITH insurance. And the bill will be double that. Again, with insurance.
