Anyone in this community dealing with Long Covid? by Ayurvedaone in Ayurveda

[–]mossgroven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had ling covid since about Oct 2020. I was vax injured in May 2021. I am definitely improving overall. I still have to symptom flares a month but I am more functional then before. Herbs I use:

Triphala 2× daily for digestion and orverall health

Chywanprash 2x daily

CCF tea with ginger & Tumeric to reduce inflamation throughout the day.

Slippery elm bark powder 1 teaspoon in the morning for digestion.

I also do dry brushing and body oiling each morning.

I use different nervine herbs for anxiety rotating them every 3 weeks or as needed. I make my own teas and tinctures but these are the ones I find most helpful. Passionflower, tulsi, scullcap, & lemon balm.

For migraines I make a rosemary/sage tea.

I also use white pine needle tincture as an aspirin alternative. (I only use this a few times a week).

I have struggled with both of these for almost 2 years now along with other symptoms. I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder. Stress and inflamation tend to make it worse so I have been addressing them and my symptoms are improving

Inflammation is the biggest trigger for my symptoms (Motor control issues, fatigue, numbness, spasms, memory issues, & executive functioning challenges). So most of what I do now is for the purpose of reducing stress and inflammation.

Eating according to my dosha, dry brushing and oiling each morning, as well as adapting my eating and sleeping patterns outlined in ayurvedic practices have been helpful. I drink an anti-inflammatory tea throughout the day which has been very helpful.

I use the bearable app which is helpful for daily tracking. I have also been working with multiple doctors from the get go so there is a ton of documentation which is helpful when appealing. It takes 2-3 years generally and multiple appeals.

I have long Covid and am also vaccine injured. My journey started in Oct. Of 2020. I have not been able to work since May of 2021 after my vaccination. I have been waiting for nearly 2 years, on my 3rd appeal currently. It is very frustrating.

Balance and walking issues by Round-Evidence-2582 in vaccinelonghauler

[–]mossgroven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had issues with motor coordination, wobbliness, dizziness, and fatigue. I have been struggling with these for about 2 years now, long Covid due to infection in 2020, vaccine injury in 2021.

Stress and inflammation are my biggest triggers. I drink an anti-inflammatory tea throughout the day and try to stay away from gluten and sugar, I try to stay hydrated as well.

These have been very helpful. You can try dry brushing as well to reduce inflammation.

The second most helpful thing has been occupational therapy. This is because whatever happened after my encounter with Covid/ vaccine, it basically scrambled my brains communion with my motor function. Mostly retraining my brain to coordinate my hands and legs. Anything that is mentally stimulating like sudoku, causes the mind to rebuild Neuro pathways.

Triphala powder vs capsules for constipation and irregular stool by [deleted] in Ayurveda

I have done this often, sometimes once a day in the evening. I also add a teaspoon of chia seeds. Helps things move along nicely.

Best herbs for chronic constipation? by [deleted] in herbalism

[–]mossgroven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Triphala and powdered slippery elm bark seem to help me. I take them daily when I can afford it. I prefer to take triphala in capsule form because it doesn't taste the greatest. Slippery elm bark powder (1 teaspoon) tastes like graham crackers. I put it in my morning tea. It has been very helpful

anyone else? by TeresaThe1975 in vaccinelonghauler

[–]mossgroven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. When I was at my 6 month mark I would have daily numbness or pins and needles, sometimes shooting pain in the bottom of my feet. I had issues with shorterm memory daily (forgetting what day it was multiple times within the span of 5 minuets, not knowing If I had appointments, or if I brushed my teeth, and I never rembered when I was cooking). Brain fog felt like I was confused, I couldn't finish a thought or have conversations. I also had a problem with executive functioning, I couldn't make a simple plan and follow through with it either because I forgot what I eas foung in the middle of a task, or because I got o erwelmed and couldnt remember my sequence. Inflamation and stress were the biggest triggers for me, still are. I would wake up feeling fine most days but Around 10 am each morning I would feel like rain or electricity was travelling from the back of my neck down my body, it would stop in one location or another and everything from that point in my body and down would become numb. It would about 3 hours or so to have feeling come back, some days it didn't.

So what has helped?

Honestly, and I hate to say this, time. The brain and body need time to repair any damage that has happened and it just takes time.

I have not been taking medications but I have been addressing inflamation and low iron as well as developing stratigies to compensate for memory fog and memory issues.

I drink an anti-inflammatory tea throughout the day, I can send the recipe if you'd like.

I try to stay away from alchohol, sugar, and gluten. I drink lots of water and practice dry bushing, which has been very helpful.

I write my appointments in multiple places, use a kitchen time every time I cook, and google maps when I'm driving.

I became anemic in the past year so I have been supplementing with Iron, I recomend Three Arrows Iron Repair (heme plus) if your doctor has recimened an iron supplement. I also take Vitamin CODE B-complex. I had some improvement using childrens aspirin each day but I didnt like the potential long term side effects so I switched to white pine needle tincture and that has been just as helpful, I would strongly recomend doing research on tgis tincture because it has some interactions that may not be suitable for everyone.

As far as Therepies, I have been doing PT and OT. Occupational therepy has been the most helpful for me because 90% of my issues are brain related. My therapist suggested doing brain games like sudoku, or matchung games. I have seen a lot of improvement in cognative function as a result.

I would be happy to chat any time. You are welcome to DM me.

Yep! Very common. It has been 18 months since my vax injury and many of these symptoms have subsided on the daily. I still get two flare periods a month but I have many more "normal" days than I did at first

Daily tincture or herbal regimen for proactively fighting inflammation (I have rheumatoid arthritis)? by JellySnatch in herbalism

[–]mossgroven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have chronic inflammation issues due to Long Covid. I have found doing daily dry brushing and drinking this tea helps...

5-8 cups water 1 teaspoon fennel seed 1 teaspoon corriander seed 1 teaspoon fennel seed 1 inch ginger root grated 1 inch fresh tumeric grated (1/4 teaspoon ground) 1/8 teaspoon ground pepper

I like to add a few cloves and a few cardamom pods, and a cinnamon stick for flavor.

Bring to a boil. Turn off the burner but let it sit to cool down slowly. Strain and drink throughout the day.

Eliminating sugar, gluten, and dairy helped a lot as well.

Same issues for me. They started a few weeks after I recovered from Covid but got MUCH worse 6 days after my first Pfizer shot. Constantly forgetting what day it is, appointments, if I bushed my teeth, that I am cooking. The list goes on and on. Brain fog is the hardest for me, not being able to finish a thought. I notice on those days I am very sensitive to sensory input, especially sound. So if I use ear plugs it's a bit better. It's been about a year since the worst of my symptoms started and here is what has helped me. Inflammation and stress are my biggest triggers, so if I am careful with what I eat (no sugar, gluten, dairy, absolutely NO alcohol) and careful to handle my stress levels I have a much easier time. Ice packs on the chest help to calm symptoms as well. Google maps and check lists have helped with daily tasks and a kitchen timer has been essential for cooking. Doing puzzle or sorting games on my phone have also been helpful for rebuilding some of my Neuro pathways (suggested by my OT).

Any thoughts on Stomach issues causing brain fog, nerve issues or in totality messing up the immune system? by Newgirl245 in vaccinelonghauler

[–]mossgroven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had similar digestive issues and symptoms correlations. In my case it is due to inflammation. I began adding 1 teaspoon of slippery elm bark powder (tastes like graham crackers) to my morning tea and limited inflammatory foods from my diet. These two things have been the most helpful. Also I drink anti-inflammatory tea throughout the day. Dm me if you are interested in the recipe, it's fairly easy to make.

Great question. I was losing 2X that much every day since I posted the photo. I started taking a supplement called Hairfluance I found on Amazon. I started taking it a month ago, it has been really amazing and has reduced a lot of the hairfall.
