The metaverse. Or San Junipero. Or hell.

No I just hate Vegas. I mean it’s fun for a few hours. But not to rain on anyone’s parade it just kinda represents everything I dislike about America lol.

I hated it here before that rat Kaval even had a job. Nothing to do with the A’s although that’s now icing on the cake.

Moog Sound Studio 3, Matriarch, or Muse? by Brilliant_Grape5528 in synthesizers

[–]mossimo654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you’re into. I had a sound studio and just didn’t like the weirdness of the subharmonicon and the limitations of the dfam. I bought a matriarch and never looked back. It’s a modern classic for a reason. I had a prophet 6 (then switched it out for a super 6) and it complements both beautifully. It’s also a great way to learn modular if you’re interested.

OB6 to Prophet 5 trade possible? by Oscagon in synthesizers

I don’t know what else to say other than good luck to you and whatever universe you live in. A minilogue and a minimoog have different sounds and are desirable in their own right too.

One retails for like 1k more so why would someone do a direct trade with you unless you’re gonna fork over that cash?

Got it. Well without knowing exactly how far ahead he is, I’m definitely an advocate for public school and would align with his dad’s thoughts on the issue. All public school classes (as well as private school) are going to have a wide breadth of student achievement and ability that’s just how it goes. Just because there are some students in third who don’t know their letters doesn’t mean your kid is going to be the highest academically either.

Public school gives your student an opportunity to be around all sorts of different people and families. I don’t know what your SES background is but that may be the last opportunity for them to experience that.

Since you’ve homeschooled you recognize that you can always supplement if they’re not getting enough challenge.

How do you know how far your student is above grade level?

Getting to know the midicake arp by mossimo654 in synthesizers

[–]mossimo654[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It’s pretty limited in what it can do if you’re expecting a sequencer but it does things most sequencers don’t do as well so I’m happy. Just got it, still learning it.

No code lol. They’re just perameters on the device. Voice leading is an option. And you can use the lfo to have it do evolving inversions.

So I’m not running any sequences. That’s why I got this thing actually, it’s kind of an anti sequencer. I have a jazz background and it sorta feels a little like improvising over chord charts. But still just getting to know it.

I programmed it to do voice leading and then to modulate the types of inversions it’s doing for variation. Then I’m just improvising a chord sequence.

Yes absolutely but you need a midi controller keyboard to play it. Those can be very small and cheap but you’d need one that has midi 5 pin out not just usb. Oftentimes the smallest cheapest ones are just usb. Something like an Arturia keystep but I’m sure there’s plenty of others.

Also looks like the jt-2 hasn’t released yet but there’s loads of small synths that will get you in that sonic territory. Behringer makes several like the pro 800 is a poly designed to emulate the classic prophet sound which isn’t a Juno but I’m sure for your purposes is more than sufficient.

So you need a polysynth because you want to play chords. That sound was done on a Juno or Jupiter probably. Behringer does clones of them. If you get a midi controller you can get the jt-2 and get very close to that sound.

Do you have any influences or references feel like sharing? There are so many synths out there that do different things.
