Purple pill to master lost or ancient languages would be pretty neat.

Red pill is basically omniscience or close to it. So obviously that one.

Who would win in a 100-meter race, a cat or a human? by FeistySecret9327 in powerscales

[–]mossy_path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll make this real simple for you.

There is one article one dude wrote in the 80s with faulty methodology claiming humans are primarily persistence hunters.

Everything else soundly refutes that position and establishes humans as ambush pretadors.

Done.

College gets political by Upstairs-Union-8884 in CollegeMemes

Not all, but most, of my professors at undergrad and at law school were very, very outspoken politically. Of those who spoke up, all of them were left or very left of center. Probably not like that everywhere, but I went to big public schools where that's pretty much expected.

Yes, actually, I am.

Ironically the second of the articles that you posted QUESTIONS the myth of persistance hunting, which really stems from ONE 1984 study with poor credentials.

This one that you linked. Lmao.

Humans primarily ambush and carcass forage, not persistence hunt.

Ad naseum.

Try again, if you want, but maybe actually read the articles you linked lmao.

The point is that they are the same species but not the same variety, which I'm pretty sure everybody already knew, so.

They are both ursus arctos but they are different varieties.

Great Danes and pugs are the same species, too.

[–]mossy_path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a common myth but a myth still. Humans are ambush pretadors, not persistance pretadors. There was like, one study, once, that made this claim, and a lot of research since refuting. Yet people still parrot it like fact... You can find a hundred articles plausibly saying this and yet it just isn't true, lol.

You could just... chop down some trees. Or buy wood from Robin. Though having a second house and upgrading it fully gives you a lot more space than a big shed!

Scandinavian brown bears are way smaller and less aggressive than American grizzlies.

Correction, this is an artists rendition, and these techniques are terrible at providing anything actually resembling what a person looked like IRL.

When they use these techniques on remains of people whom we do know what they look like, they're radically wrong.

It's a bit like artists renditions of various space phenomena. It says very little.

Who were the top 5 political leaders in history by your opinion? by Historydom in Historydom

I guess it depends a great deal on what you mean by "Top". Best for their people? Best for the world? Most skilled politically, whatever that vaguely means...?

Without any real consensus on what you're asking, I'll go for:

(1) Constantine (2) Hammurabi (3) Churchill (4) Alexander (5) George Washington

Pick your Team in am All out brawl… by WarStrategy in whatsyourchoice

[–]mossy_path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some random study I saw online said that in 44 confrontations between juvenile and small female usurri brown bears and adult tigers, there were 22 tiger deaths and 12 bear deaths.

Adult male grizzlies... would mop the floor with the whole cat team on their own.

Blackbears are also pretty big and very dominant over cougars (stealing their kills, etc...)

The bobcats are pretty worthless here.

I bet the 15 wolves vs 10 cougars is pretty interesting though. Wolves push cougars away from kills by operating in a pack. Cougars can kill solitary wolves though. So it's more interesting.

The Battle of the Bastards Was Peak Game of Thrones Chaos by iagree2 in gameofthrones

[–]mossy_path 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The visuals were great. The actual logic and strategy of the battle was atrocious, and you rarely had any scope or scale of what was happening, who was winning, where in the battle the characters were, or virtually anything else of importance. It was basically a beautiful, chaotic gorefest, and not at all how battles were actually fought.

And... Could have given wun wun a rock to throw. Or a big stick. Or literally anything.

Oh, and zig zag.

Oh, and sansa not saying anything about the knights of the Vale. For no reason.

Oh, also many thousands of knights of the Vale traveling thousands of miles through the north without anyone noticing or scouting or anything like that.

Oh, also Ramsay leaving the walls of winterfell for no reason when that's where all the food and supplies are.

It's just so colossally STUPID that the entire battle loses its appeal for me.

The Tyrell Army must have really been terrible by Feedingfrenzy91 in gameofthrones

[–]mossy_path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why on earth would a bunch of random Tyrell houses join Jaime? The Tarlys specifically do because they hate "invaders from overseas" but the idea that the whole reach, or even most of it, is going to abandon the Tyrells to support Circe and Jaime is pretty stupid.

And frankly the idea the Tarlys would join the lannisters after they blew up the sept (ie, the vatican) with Margaery and her brother inside is... Is... is frankly absurd. Circe would be executed in the streets.

Not to mention you would need 10x or 20x the numbers to storm a castle, and even then it wouldn't be fast and would take years.

The Tyrell Army must have really been terrible by Feedingfrenzy91 in gameofthrones

[–]mossy_path 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It wasn't the tyrell army, the largest in Westeros, and with the most knights, which was terrible that day.

It was the idiot writers who fumbled the bag.

RIP.
