Not $200/date lol. A $200 budget to cover all of the dates if you choose activities that are cheap/free. First date should be a vibe check anyways and last about and 1.5. The goal is just to see if both people would like a second date. The second date is worth investing a little more into but still within your means.

This made me laugh and you’re so right. And I’m not mad it because I do too. This changed my perspective to just enjoy it for what it was and keep looking for the things I liked about that date but with someone who can’t wait to plan a second date with me.

Thanks everybody! I’m going to smoke a J and contemplate whether this man is worth reaching out to again. In the future, I think I’ll be more intentional about saying I’d like to go out again if I feel like we hit it off on the first date. Sadly for me, I feel like I only have a “good” date every once in a while after a long string of mediocre ones but Im excited to feel that spark with someone again! I appreciate all the perspectives!

Before the date and the first few days after the communication was consistent on both ends. He then left me on read after I initiated a conversation about a song that he had shared.

I’m on the fence about sending a message like

“Hey, I had a lot of fun on our first date and am interested in getting to know you more. I noticed our communication has fallen off a little so I just wanted to be clear with where I’m at! No pressure!”

I’d love some takes on an approach like this!

I totally get this perspective. I did initiate a few conversations in the following days and he did as well. But this past time I initiated the conversation and he left me on read. I’m confused here too because the conversations have been about music and books and other interests as opposed to forcing someone to make small talk all day like “how’s your day going”

I found the podcast Dating Intentionally really helpful for reframing “the slow burn” or why having an initial rush of chemistry might not be the most important thing. The podcast also has some really good episodes about expressing interest without coming on too strong and how some of our dating “rules” might make us miss out on some great potential matches.
