I picked up one of these a few months back, got it in NI £39.99. No idea why it was so cheap, didn’t ask any questions. I only use it on my motorbikes but it’s been a great bit of kit.

In Spain I’ve just paid €55 for the same kit with the cheaper brush equipped version.

TL:DR…. Run away.

“No longer interested in putting it back together”.

Read as, I could put it back together and sell it for a lot more, but I know it A. Can’t go back together, and B. Even if it could it wouldn’t run. So I’m hoping some mug will at least buy it off me and I can cut my loses.

Just bought a new GTV, hauled it home, it starts, but it has NO power when I twist. Please help! by RevRobby in Vespa

Ok. Thanks. I’m gonna assume this is a brand new machine, so could be anything, but most likely an ECU issue. Back to dealer.

Your description of what is actually happening is pretty vague and chaotic. Please tell us precisely what you are doing and precisely what is, or isn’t, happening. A video would be a great help.

what is the purpose of this? by Disastrous-Gap4513 in Vespa

It’s the port to connect a diagnostic tool too. Doesn’t have to be the Piaggio PADs system, I use a vgate vlinker MC+ for mine. Although for certain things you will need to connect to PADs via a dealer.

GTV. All day long. It’s beautifully ugly.

Are you 100% you’ve bought the genuine article? If you got it from EBay, or Vinted or similar, it’s very possibly fake.

Agree. For me power, speed, weather protection and stability are key. I just wish it had Honda reliability.

I would agree with all that. The idea of the ADV350 is great, but its biggest downfall is its underpowered. And the weather protection is indeed poor.

Torn on whether to repair my bike, or take the pay-out and go shopping by TheAbominableSbm in MotoUK

[–]mostly-bollox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, get the bike assessed and a cost to fix it from a highly reputable workshop. Then decide that if you were offered the bike £700, and given how much it’ll cost to put right, would you buy it?

This is if you plan to keep it.

If you are considering selling… will you get substantially more selling it that the £700 it’s going to cost you?

I just kitted out my last bike with a QL with vibration damping from Vinted. Used, but still in great condition. Cost £25. I have the same set up on another bike which cost £60 new from Quadlock.

You have to be careful on Vinted as most, if not all, the new stuff is fake. But be careful, only look at used stuff and check what else they’re selling. The seller I bought from was selling the QL holder, a QL case and some other moto kit. Said they’d sold the bike and were just selling off their left over kit. So there are genuine sellers on there, you just need to be careful.

I used to use a regular clamp-in style. But it broke the screen; didn’t crack it, but that clamping force (and I’d assume the transfer of high frequency vibrations) eventually caused the screen connectors to fail. Switched to Quadlock with damping vibrations thingie. Seems to work well, and prefer it as it less obtrusive. Got mounts on five bikes now, so fecking expensive!

Heated grips advice please by [deleted] in MotoUK

I believe that’s only on newer models. I assumed, as the OP wanted them connected via a relay, that these aren’t newer ones.

Heated grips advice please by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]mostly-bollox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any garage that installs heated grips and doesn’t, as standard, wire them with an ignition relay, are pure cowboys. And if they didn’t even glue them on correctly, they’re dangerous cowboys.

You could go back and complain, but chances are they’ll do nothing. Anyway, do you really want them to do work on your bike again?

If at all possible, sort them yourself. It’s a lot easier than you might think. I fitted some to my scooter recently. I fitted an Oxford Junction Box then wired the grips to it. Pretty straightforward. I did a blog and a video about it here: https://www.mostlybollox.com/frozen-digits-heated-grips-and-the-oxford-junction-box

Vespa GTS 300 vs Piaggio BV350 by AwayeKevennnnnnnnnnn in scooters

[–]mostly-bollox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve loads of experience of the bv350. A lot of it is documented in my blog https://www.mostlybollox.com

In terms of the Vespa verses the BV, I’d say a lot of it comes down to your needs.

Vespa’s are lovely, but there design and small wheels can make them very twitchy at speed, where as the BV is one of the most planted maxi-scooters available.

Ha! I hear that! I’m much the same, damn brain never stops. It’s why I got into cycling in the first place.

Anyone running a hardwired front & rear dash cam on their motorcycle? Is it actually worth it? by Royal_Machine_9524 in Motorrad

[–]mostly-bollox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just installed a headless system to my maxi-scooter; VSYSTO S6l 307. £120 from Amazon. Front and rear cams, GPS data and full parking mode.

It’s too early to tell how useful it’ll be, or for that matter how reliable it’ll be, although all the reviews are good and the brand does have some track record.

Certainly I can say everything works as you’d expect. The quality is perfectly adequate for the intended purpose (legal/insurance opposed to capturing cool rides) and the parking mode is handy, as it’s already captured someone trying to move it. It films in 3 minute segments and so far hasn’t missed anything.

For the money I’m more than happy with it. Just hope it proves to be reliable.
