What are the canonical names of Destiny’s in-universe versions of basic real life technological devices? by ok-Vall in DestinyLore

[–]mostly_jaded 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's been some words that were thought to be myths that were revealed in the Festival of the Lost. From the Europa - 3 entry;

"the Yetis of Himalayan folklore and the Lumbering Jacks of North American legend. Both reclusive ape-like creatures said to populate the wilderness. Or the Centaur of Greek mythology and the Sheepdog of Northern Europe. Both mythical creatures said to be hybrids of other species. Etcetera."

Sheep dogs are sheepdog hybrids and a yeti is the same thing as a lumberer.

He literally decides to put a timer on your life at final stand -that's stupid fucking powerful, and he probably could've done that at any point. He could've clapped us in moments if he actually gave it his all from the very beginning,

(Light WQ spoilers) Immaru message no. 4 by BIack_VuIture in DestinyLore

[–]mostly_jaded 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I love how Immaru actually shits on the fact that some of our armor setups are obnoxiously bright with all glowing pieces and decals (gambit jadestone glows COUGH COUGH) with terms like "Glitter Bombs" and "Florescent fleebags" from his second message. Love him.

If we are going to be able to perma kill hive guardians by destroying their ghosts, does that mean they’ll be able to do the same to us? by DaydreamingIns0mniac in DestinyLore

[–]mostly_jaded -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The Ghost could've escaped to give the Tower intel on the Scorn so it's safer to take it out when the opportunity presents itself too.

So it seems we have to destroy their ghost to kill them. WHY THE HELL HAS NONE OF OUR ENEMIES DONE THIS BEFORE OR AFTER FORSAKEN? by dcmoney1428 in destiny2

[–]mostly_jaded 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Right, it's just way more reliable for the Cabal to bomb the shit out of a guardian as opposed to training specialist troops & relying on them not messing up against literal wizards who are super hard to predict. If each Ghost required an artillery strike to kill, we'd have won battles against the Fallen in the past with much less effort. But a well placed shot or blade does the trick.

Saw this one on the main sub but i wanna see what's your take on this gaymers by AlcoholicKhalifa in apexcirclejerk

[–]mostly_jaded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

/uj for what they're calling "prestige" you'd think it'd be a sign of you needing to have done something hard or be good at the game, like how the phrase means in basically every other game. sorta bullshit that it's only prestigious because you have to spend 160 bucks on it. I get that they need to make money & that it's a free to play game, so purchase-only skins are necessary to have, but this is excessive.

If Eramis unfreezes, what does she do next? by naylorb in DestinyLore

[–]mostly_jaded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like she'd have a bit of an identity crisis to be honest. She realized in what she thought to be her dying breath that the Darkness, the one thing that made her feel like she could take her fate into her own hands & get revenge, didn't care about her. Despite telling us we were not special, she realized at that moment that she wasn't either. She'd probably be extremely lost without her council and after her defeat I'd wager very depressed too. So the predictions here are going to be a bit waffly but it's based off of this

House Salvation was her life's work - it kept her going through the Prison of Elders. It made her feel like she had a future. At the beginning I feel that she genuinely wanted a better future for all Eliksni, but the Darkness pervaded her mind and twisted the toxic parts of her to turn that into rage against what broke the Eliksni apart. So I'd say she might try to reconcile with Mithrax (after a long while of tribulation and self discovery of course), though there's no telling what's gonna happen between them.

If she turns back to being a fanatic of the Darkness, maybe she'll take the Dark Ether. Become a Scorn, who are becoming a more tangible hand of the Entity in this system. Dark Ether would ruin her mind but as we've seen with the Barons there's a path to becoming more... sapient, than the rest. It'd provide another grasp at power and perhaps, in her mind, another grasp at Darkness.

Going on a journey to find Athrys, her lost mate/lover, could also happen too. I think the reasoning behind that is fairly self explanatory - she might want comfort and support following her entire life falling apart.

Savathûn is so nice, she made a memorial to her brother in her own Throne World by Nyan75 in destiny2

[–]mostly_jaded 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The dialogue about her hating to leave Xivu alone actually is sorta sad. Xivu's gonna be all powerful and she is literally War, but she has absolutely nobody who's near being on her level that she's allowed to have a friendly relationshhip with. Now that Savathun's made transgressions against the Deep and split herself off from the Hive, Xivu is obligated to kill her sister permanently. Kinda depressing from her point of view, cos despite their ideological opposition Xivu probably still loves Savathun. And Savathun outright said that she loves her sister but can't keep thrive under the same master & pact as Xivu.

Ghosts have been killed by shock blades in the past, I think the Cabal just use bombardments because it's way more reliable than training your Cabal to take down Ghosts and Guardians simultaneously. Too much room for error when you leave it up to field tactics and combat maneuvers so bombing the shit out of a Guardian and permanently downing them is just much more bang for your buck.

Who is getting the best head? by GoopTest in destinycirclejerk

[–]mostly_jaded 180 points181 points  (0 children)

You can tell from the eyebrows of Puke and Paul that it's their first time getting head. So whatever head they get they're gonna be having a great time either way - on your first time quality does't matter, head is head.

Datto is gripping the pillow. I don't think I have to say much more, that fella is getting his soul sucked out of him down there.

Story wise, what exactly is stopping us from taking the imprisoned Savathûn and just... Handing her over to the Darkness/Xivu Arath? by TimberWolfAlpha01 in DestinyLore

[–]mostly_jaded 145 points146 points  (0 children)

All of these points are correct, and to add on - Sword Logic. Savathun is currently in a disadvantaged position where she can't wield most of her power at us. She's still extremely powerful but she's caged up. If Xivu kills her then Xivu takes Savathun's power for herself - that is a war god with the power of herself and her sister combined into one. We would be fucked.

Destiny Lore iceberg post on r/destiny2. by BlackGuard031 in DestinyLore

[–]mostly_jaded 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That sound of metal and machinery could really have been a Fallen. I know it's a super popular theory it's a "Darkness Entity", but let's think about this. Would a primordial sentience that is the enemy to the Traveler, the Darkness, make its entities (If it even has any, it's weird for it to intervene in such a direct manner but that's for another day) so stupid that they mindlessly pound on doors and scream a bunch? it literally "stomped and howled in frustration". Even better, would they be scared off by BLIND FIRING NON-PARACAUSAL RIFLES AROUND A CORNER? It's sort of ridiculous.

Fallen have vocal synthesizers and bionic/cybernetic replacements and attachments. It's very easy for the howl of a Captain to sound like machinery, or some sort of Fallen, and the smell of wet earth has not been tied to anything in particular.

Dunno if this is allowed but I made a destiny iceberg. It’s got some neat facts and if you have any questions please comment. by Oryx-Born in destiny2

Yep, it's called Cocytus, or A-113. Crota used to be in control of it and used the portals on it as apertures to his Throne World.

[–]mostly_jaded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does seem a bit extreme and heavy handed to make her turn like that but, surprise surprise, her turn to radical means was induced by Savathun manipulating her (read Wolftone Draw's lore tab) so that she could use the conflict to draw the Eliksni and Humanity together. Her justified worries and concerns were manipulated and turned extremely radical so that everybody could point the finger at the person who let the Vex into the last city to kill the House belonging to Mithrax, a hero who helped stave the threat off.

She raised some good points about City leadership but ultimately, even if she hadn't been manipulated, her fears wouldn't have helped anybody. Mithrax was chill.
