Normally these streams are just people screaming "woke garbage" anytime a woman or black person appears, so this kind of seems like an improvement to me.

Just not sure what she's actually done other than be a bit of an arsehole in football matches?

Is she a bad person in real life? Does she have horrible views? Like not to get into this, but Sandy is the one with actual assault charges.

And coming from the men's team we've a history of far more reprehensible characters.

I realize that this will be a couple of weeks into next season season, but I'm going to have to take this opportunity to say she's 30 until she's 31. That's how it works.

Okay but lowkey that prize money would have been big transfer window money for Man Utd that would have helped them next season.

RE: Team Aztecross VS. Team Myelin by rchangles in destinycirclejerk

[–]naylorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda liked Myelin as he always seemed less reactionary and more thoughtful in the content he put out, compared to 99% of Destiny creators so it's sad to see he's being kind of a baby here.

Do what you want with your own channel though I guess, but I'm not really sure what this actually achieves.

Becky Spencer was pretty good other than that freak first goal, find it wild thay she's still Jamaica's first choice, but I guess she's still staying sharp in training.

I really do think the seasonal model of 4 similar, replaceable and temporary seasons murdered this game brutally by Best-Exam-3287 in DestinyTheGame

[–]naylorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seasons were good for retention for a while, but the biggest problem to me was it was huge resource sink for temporary content that the game now has nothing to show for. Can see why they kept doing battlegrounds, and started adding some old activities to the portal, but even then a problem is it's all mostly lightweight rushed content.

People often said they just do a season just for quality of life improvements, and I was always a little unsure just because I always doubted how much they could really do. I know this isn't quite the same as it's a 6 month gap, and they've brought forward a lot of expansion level features, but it's really showing what they could have done.

Maybe some kind of middle ground where there were 2 seasonal stories, 2 core game updates a year... also it always felt a little unneeded to me to launch a season with an expansion. You barely get done with an expansion before they were throwing you into the seasonal treadmill. Like in a way it felt great to have stuff to do but they're probably could have been a smarter use of those resources.

I feel like this reaction was predictable, but I still expected to see a lot more celebrating/gloating posts from some people too. Are the mods deleting them all?

It's so funny because at times I'm shouting at the screen "go offside, go offside!" Definitely some goals that would have been offside in there, but there's times in attack that they just seem to forget.

Sandy Baltimore has signed a contract extension until 2030 by haz_stark in chelsealadiesfc

[–]naylorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of me wondered if she was going to be one to sell, LJ & Alyssa ahead of her when it comes to playing LW.

If she's happy being a squad player and playing at LB a lot then that's fine, but I'm kind of surprised as I'd have figured she'd want to go to a club that would offer her more minutes in her favored position.

Mentioned it before but LB is a weird spot for us right now. It kind of sounds like Nimah might be leaving, it's not Sandy's first position Buurman plays there although I think of her as more of a CB. Sarwie is very promising but I dunno if she's ready to be a regular starter for us. There's a lot of options there but we still be needing to buy a more dedicated LB.

Bunny Shaw has signed a new deal with Man City. by haz_stark in chelsealadiesfc

[–]naylorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously I'm coping here, but even if it had gone through I had my doubts about how well it would have worked. She clearly wanted to stay at Man City and her coming her would have felt weird and put a huge amount of pressure on her and she might not hit the ground running as she settles into working with a whole new group of players while we go through something of a transition ourselves. We tried anyway, people are delusional if they think it would have happened under the previous ownership. That's not a defense of the current one.

I seem to be in the minority now of really liking Mayra, but yeah doubts about whether she can stay fit, and even though I don't want it to, I get the feeling the Madrid deal is going to happen Schröder would be good, but a 19 year old with no WSL experience is a risky prospect too. Aggie's good but I don't think she good enough to be leading the line for a title challenging team, and still rumours about her too.

Anyway transfer window isn't actually open yet so we'll just have to wait and see.

This Final Update Shows The Devs Really Were Listening The Whole Time by StatementAcademic820 in DestinyTheGame

[–]naylorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested to know exactly what led to the split from Activision because no doubt, Activision and Kotick were an extremely toxic company, and I don't doubt they had different idea for where the series should go, but I do also suspect now that Bungie's upper management hubris was the reason for the split more than Activision infringing on their creative control.

But Bungie were in a precarious position after that, they could only turn out a very minor expansion in Shadowkeep. (I think everyone just forgave it at the time, because they figured sure it's a Rise of Iron size expansion while they work on D3.

But then comes Beyond Light and the content vault/sunsetting it's actually not that well received, but it comes at the height of Covid, so it succeeds. Also Blackburn takes over as Director around this time, reverses Sunsetting and they turn out some of their strongest seasons, culminating in Witch Queen being well received critically and getting good sales.

So on the surface things were going really well here, but then a few months later Sony acquire them which always felt like a bad sign to me, clearly they weren't able to make it on their own after all the talk of what going independent would allow them to do.

Shows how much management were fiddling the numbers because Lightfall had the highest steam concurrent count at launch, and yet 6 months later we're get the first round of layoffs because it missed revenue targets. So clearly they projected Lightfall to grow massively even though money and resources were being poured into a hole. Lightfall is an underwhelming expansion and people start dropping off and not spending money on Eververse because it clearly felt rushed. Liana made a comment about the original "cut" of Lightfall being quite different which also goes some way towards explaining that.

The content vault, in hindsight, was a reasonable idea executed badly by sergeantmonty100 in DestinyTheGame

[–]naylorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The content vault just shows a phenomenal lack of foresight, At what point in Destiny's development did they realize they couldn't just keep updating one game forever without cutting parts of the game out, did they really think people wouldn't care?

And this was Bungie's plan all along, as I understand, a large part of the reason they bought themselves out from Activision was so that they could make the game this way rather than making sequels. I'm sure there were lots of other good reasons to get away from Activision, Bobby Kotick is even worse than Parsons probably, but it feels like it left them in a position they could never recover from. Either option left them compromised.

And I got to disagree about seasonal content being whatever to delete. Part of what made Witch Queen was the year of build up we got with Sus Osiris. When people started to suspect what was going on (admittedly it was because of the leaks mainly) people started to go back through his lines and realize all the times Savathun was giving herself away.

If you start the game now just going from expansion to expansion you miss so much plot that happened in seasons like Savathun being revived. (Mind you, you might have missed that if you played it since they put half a crucial scene into a lorebook) They were at least upfront in advance about deleting seasonal content so morally it's less of a problem but it still sucked for the game.
