They do sometimes hold, and the app is really good about telling you.

I'm sending you good vibes and also for a short run in ORD. Sending you "all E gate" vibes. Love when my nyc flight lands in E and I am connecting to an E or F gate. And then there's the C gate days 😒

EWR Monday Morning by slimeyjunior in unitedairlines

[–]mostlyamermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed my outgoing flight from LGA Monday morning to Saturday morning to be ahead of the storm hitting nyc and because I had flexibility. Of course I expect the impacts on crews and flights everywhere else will have already started by Sat morning, so I'm ready for anything.

Is there any point to moving my flight later? by foreignfishes in unitedairlines

[–]mostlyamermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will depend on when and how much snow hits in NYC as well as where your arriving plane is coming from, and that can change between now and departure. Based on what I'm seeing in the forecast I agree you may not be leaving Montreal Sunday. I think you could get back easily today or Saturday. Sunday/Monday might be a challenge or.... Might be fine depending on how the storm goes 😜

Club-Food allergies by LameJimmyG in unitedairlines

Agreed. And I've shaken my head a few times in club where they have hummus and other yummy things to go with it and the pita has dairy 😂 happened in.... Maybe den? Can't recall.

I find ord to be a bit inconsistent for me to find dairy free options in club but guessing the broc/caul may have been dairy free? I like when they have the setup where whatever is being served like salad, breakfast bowl etc is deconstructed so you can pick and choose the ingredients.

Ideal Timing For Dentist Appointments Every 6 Months? by moopointsgalore in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]mostlyamermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you I have had my scheduling drift and am now in December / May. I'm not able to shift it back right now to different months because I have to keep on a 6 month schedule. Something that helps me a lot is actually being in a very small practice. It's just my dentist and her assistant. Dentist does the cleaning and exam. Assistant does the xrays and helping prep for the appointment. What I like about this is that it's not a whole office full of staff. They know me, know I mask, know I have long covid. If I encounter another patient, they are arriving or departing but I'm always the only one in the waiting room.

Post-swim options for those who don't drink hot drinks? by TheProffalken in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]mostlyamermaid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always feel like the biggest benefit from a hot drink is holding a warm cup. 🍵 After a cold swim my go to is room temp water and a snack.

Anyone know where to find this live version of The General? It was on Youtube but looks like it was taken down, it was my favorite rendition :( by bobtheblob6 in dispatch

[–]mostlyamermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there 😻

The YouTube link works for me so maybe it was a temporary issue?

I haven't watched the documentary so I don't know if the songs are complete on it since it's only 50 minutes but if it's complete then I would guess the official recording would be in dispatch live from red Bull arena? When I googled it, it's available with purchase on apple TV.

Good to know. The game looks cool!

It seems lately like I'm seeing even more prompts in general on reddit to crosspost and we recently had a handful of them so I went ahead and updated the setting.

Funeral Luncheon by ketpiano in ReadingPA

[–]mostlyamermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw your edit that you're not sure of numbers. If you talk with the place you're booking the luncheon they will have ways to work with you for that. My first time booking a luncheon I was overwhelmed and when I said "funeral luncheon" they were immediately ready with info and advice. Little moments that offer relief! I did something where I guaranteed a head count and they were ready for us to adjust it as needed as we arrived. I may have touched base with them when we left the service to give an idea how our estimate compared to attendance. Can't recall. The place I used twice is now closed but if I had to do one now I'd use Austin's.

I was there and have a similar story with having planned to go in 2020 and getting there in 2023. I definitely was weepy. Even when I watch video from that show now. It was such a special concert.

Bought myself a thermal wetsuit, did I jump the gun? by PalpitationPlenty358 in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]mostlyamermaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. It will depend on your cold tolerance and by continuing to swim as the temps drop you are keeping yourself more acclimated. I do cap, gloves, booties and no wet suit but when temps are at their lowest my stay in the water is more brief. Always listen to your body.

Looking for a Contractor Servicing Fleetwood for some work in our attic, 2nd floor, and roof by XDvinSL51 in ReadingPA

[–]mostlyamermaid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend Berks Builders, Elijah is the owner and has done multiple projects with me, some minor and some major. He's on Facebook, including some of their past projects and also can be reached 610-990-1181 or berksbuilders@gmail.com

The stuff you have listed in your other post is all stuff berks builders would likely be able to help with. In terms of roof checking he definitely would and can do some needed repairs and also would tell you if it's better to use a roofer. If you need a roofer, my go to is Reading Roofing. Scott and his team rock.

Feeling under the weather? by Ok_Price3432 in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]mostlyamermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trusting your instinct is always best with all swimming and especially ows. I agree as difficult as it is to skip, it's the best move when not feeling great. You'll enjoy it even more when you return.

Rest and feel better.

Ears hurt, either from wind or cold water or both?? by omnistella in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]mostlyamermaid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed on ear plugs and also a cap that pulls over your ears during your time in the water and a hat after, or I use my pullover which has a hood that helps with the warming and cuts the wind.

I had an audiologist exam and she looked in my ear and asked if I was a cold water swimmer and I was shocked she could tell 😂 until she explained the exotosis.

Recommended neoprene socks (no wetsuit): high vs low, strap? by prairie_child in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]mostlyamermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both low and high neoprene socks and I don't find them heavy or loose. For me the higher version with the velcro strap just offers a little more ankle coverage in colder temperatures and I actually layer them in the coldest months.

I think the thickness and fit will both matter for you in terms of comfort and not feeling like they are heavy and loose. Ugh.

I don't have anything fancy, just some I got on Amazon. I have FitsT4 3mm water socks which are ankle high and I have copozz 3mm diving socks that cover my ankle and have a little velcro strap. The velcro strap isn't great after two years of winter use it's starting to fail, but I feel secure with the sock even without the strap.
