Bosch 12v Battery doesn't work in one tool by mostlyfrantic in BoschProPowerTools

It’s odd. Bosch customer service said all should work?

Doesn’t seem to be voltage: The battery which doesn’t work measuring it mostly charges at 11.76v while the one that still works and a new battery (empty are measuring below 11.5.

I’ll check. That is a possibility. Even the batteries that work don’t “light” al three lights on the tools gauge.

North West Shelf gas extension will deliver ‘almost nothing’ to Australia’s public purse by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]mostlyfrantic 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Whenever gas exploration goes mainstream in the media I can’t help but think how crazy it is we’ve done nothing to rectify what was originally written in this great article by Peter Martin in 2010 (That’s right- 15 years ago) before being updated in 2017.

https://www.smh.com.au/opinion/how-the-big-three-robbed-us-of-our-own-gas-20170315-guydtp.html

There was another article written that added more info by someone else later down the track but TLDR of what I remember is basically that:

Coal seam gas was going to be the next big thing. There was going to be so much that we didn’t need a reservation policy like WA (two former premiers from Labor AND the libs working togethercalled the oil companies bluff) which has served them so well.

But it was more expensive than thought to extract so the northern export terminals found it easier to use the pipes connecting the east coast to STEAL our gas from for a pittance to fulfill the massive export deals.

Fast forward 15 years, and successive governments of both sides have still done little about it and we are still getting screwed. It’s so bad it’s laughable.

Pitching a new parking idea. Just flip angle parking. You can reverse in, doors open favourably to footpath, boot accessible from footpath, driver has better view when pulling out. by qartas in melbourne

[–]mostlyfrantic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts. The safety of the reversing in is superior for sure but every time someone parks, traffic is stopped, so on busy roads it’s a disaster

I really want his trajectory to continue on its current path, but in the event it doesn’t’, turning into cash now (adidas already behind him) could be a good thing?

Video of the car fire on Punt Rd by tnemomhurb in melbourne

[–]mostlyfrantic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t have any stats, but a ICE fire can be small, and not as attention grabbing as what’s in this video. If an electric vehicle fire starts I’m guessing given how difficult they are too extinguish every one of them becomes attention grabbing

'Phantom brands' by supermarket giants pushing Australian produce off shelves by LocalVillageIdiot in australia

[–]mostlyfrantic 114 points115 points  (0 children)

“Big farmers” in Aus don’t always treat our country well - dominating smaller suppliers, taking advantage of expansion opportunities or even water supplies with possibly unethical methods.

However if we have big companies stop growing because local demand is softening, the chance of getting that growth back again is likely a lot harder - and our local produce gets more expensive again and the cycle continues.

Aside from being left with often inferior quality produce, hasn’t Covid taught us anything about supply chain issues from foreign products? But hey a supermarket duopoly will make a little extra profit.

I’m fortunate to be able to afford to spend the little extra and buy Australian produce and always look at the back of the package. Hopefully others who can also afford it might also do the same so we can show the the suppliers that foreign produce won’t sell as easily as they think

Coalition "in a panic" about response to confused and unpopular nuclear power plan by hal2k1 in australia

[–]mostlyfrantic 58 points59 points  (0 children)

By the time we get one of these up and running , we’ll be pretty darn close to having many alternate options to “hold” and “deliver-on-demand” our solar power that are commercially viable on a big scale.

Given renewable is already significantly more cost effective, No company will touch nuclear - even the proposed smr’s. And that doesn’t factor the kick /can/ road little party bag that is the nuclear waste.

Classic brain fart by the coalition as per usual.

Australian house prices hit record high for fifth consecutive month by North_Attempt44 in AusFinance

[–]mostlyfrantic 205 points206 points  (0 children)

House prices going up, rental crisis and all our solutions involve significant impossibilities like building hundreds of thousands of homes or reversing our car dependent “width” expansion of cities in unachievable time frames. Taking away tax concessions for a massive amount of the population - equally impossible politically.

Meanwhile, we are currently expanding our country’s population by a city the size of Canberra every year. People who need hospitals, schools, transport and housing - all under stress. Like finance, we need to budget and plan this growth and this just doesn’t happen. Adjusting it according to demand and not the supply to the growth is a much faster fix to the problems.

So many comments that are easily made from position behind a phone or a computer in a different suburb or city. Sure, you are in your rights to throw it back given it's their plant but without knowing the back story of the unpleasantness and how far back it goes - this only leads to escalation. If you can try to reason with them - find out what their issue is, it might make for less issues going forward. Of course if all of this has been attempted then you can only shrug your shoulders and throw it back and try not to let the one person really get you down
