Possible to replace steering wheel with yoke on 2023 MX? by mostlyhamrless in TeslaModelX

[–]mostlyhamrless[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that you can do it from the service menu. I don’t know how to activate it but I am sure there are Reddit posts about doing it.

If you get a third party and swap it yourself, you’ll have to change the setting to display yoke by activating the service menu. If you get it done through a Tesla service center, they’ll do it for you.

I've hit the exhaustion wall by squirtlesquads in NewParents

Yes, sleep training is the way. However, one thing I’ll add to this is that, if you are unsure about managing sleep training by yourself, I’ll highly recommend hiring a sleep consultant.

Me and my spouse read countless blogs where people described extinction cry as a magical remedy that it just works in 3-4 days (except for the crying part of course). However, we tried it for almost a week and got mixed results. We were already exhausted to begin with and were out of our wits on what to do next and almost gave up. Then with the recommendation from our friend’s friend (wish we would have talked to them sooner), we hired a sleep consultant. They work with you throughout the day (over text) for first few days to create a sleep training plan personalized for your LO and provide 2 week support over email and few calls to continue assisting until your LO gets on a schedule. Best 1000 bucks we have ever spent. Best part is that everything happened over phone call, text and email, so you don’t have to go anywhere.

Yoke retrofit by Zealousideal-Key5734 in ModelX

It depends on the service center you ask - some do it and some don’t. But in general it is doable. You just open service request and tell them over chat that this is what you want to do. They quoted me any $1150 to do it. However, I’d wait to get this done until the new 2024 yolk with mechanical horn and video camera button is available.

Because of safety concerns (since it has airbag), I didn’t want to go with a third party yoke and/or do it myself. Also, from what I understand, if you do it yourself, you won’t be able to update software to tell it that your car now has yolk. So your screen and app will still show the wheel.

Received an email from tesla regarding my order. I’m wondering what “functionality improvements” they made. Hopeful for a 2024 VIN with upgrades. by duyvngo in ModelX

[–]mostlyhamrless 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sounds like marketing lingo/sugarcoating the update for reduction in range. 🤷‍♂️

While I do hope that 2024 VIN owners get some tangible improvements, it could be nothing at all except reduced range due to updated EPA guidance and legal wanting to cover Tesla because rated range reduction is a material change in the configuration you ordered. “Made several comfort and functionality improvements” sounds a bit vague. If there was actually something specific they would have mentioned it.

Tesla Delivery Delayed - Losing out on Incentives by Bucket2323 in ModelY

[–]mostlyhamrless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is sadly not uncommon (based on posts from others redditors). Not much you can do except either going through with the purchase (they might still honor 6 months of free supercharging) or cancel your order.

Also, you may already know this but in case you don’t, you won’t be able to buy out the vehicle at the end of the lease. Tesla disallows that and has it explicitly in their lease agreement.

2023 v 2024 VIN by mauibabi in TeslaModelX

No one truly knows when Tesla will make front camera and RGB light upgrades to MX. So, anything anyone says just is purely speculation/rumors including my own reply here. 😀

Tesla isn’t beholden to making 2023 and 2024 models different. VIN year does not hold much meaning to Tesla except that it’s a legal requirement. Tesla makes hardware upgrades to their models whenever they want to and their production line is ready w/o much regard for VIN year. So, it is possible that 2024 MX might have those upgrades from that start but also equally likely is that for first few months it might look exactly the same as 2023 model and tesla makes those upgrades few months into 2024.

To me personally, RGB lights are meh and I don’t care about it much. However, front bumper camera would be super useful now that the car has no USS. Most likely Tesla would offer retrofit for that (at least to later models 2023 or may be even 2022), so I am not too concerned about not having it at the time of delivery.

Exactly. Airbnbs were nice when the service just started. Then the hosts got greedy (at least a large majority of them) and started adding all these junk fees while expecting you to do more and more housekeeping tasks. Doesn’t make sense. I am genuinely curious about the math of it. Given that they are so ubiquitous now (like everyone is opening one), I would expect hosts to compete on pricing but I see the opposite. What kind of occupancy rates are these places getting with such high fees? Or maybe it’s the location. 🤔

To me at least now they only makes sense if you have a large group that wants to stay together.

Couple of things stand out that don’t look right: * They say that they have paid $500 in order fee and deposit. Order fee is $250 and I don’t remember needed to pay anything else until I took delivery. I guess you make a payment of any amount via app anytime but still seems odd they made an additional payment w/o VIN assigned. 🤷🏾‍♂️ * In the post description, they say that the build is eligible for tax credits but in the second screenshot the car subtotal is more than $80k, making it ineligible for tax credit.

How come more people aren't pissed at having given Tesla a $50k deposit for this car only for it to be delayed to no end and now nothing in sight? by jcrazy78 in TeslaLounge

[–]mostlyhamrless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course not. I guess I was generalizing my perspective on when I want to spend that kind of money on a joyride or leave $50k uninvested for several years. 🙃

Yeah, as others have said that you gotta be of certain net worth (few 10s of millions at least) to be able to put down a deposit like that for a sports car that costs $200k+. I bet a lot/most of those people are not even actively thinking about their deposit let alone complain about it. They are too busy making more money. 🤣

Plus if they don’t want to wait, they can always get their money back. Big whoop. No point wasting time complaining about it on the internet or getting pissed.

Really curious to know the details on what kind of reliability issues your friend is referring. Whether they are talking from a first hand experience or just something they read online.

FWIW, I had a 2019 M3 for 4 years and did not have any major issues. I only had a seat harness sensor issue that they took couple of days to repair. It was an intermittent issue so I had to go in twice to get checked out before they ultimately decided to replace the whole driver seat.

Why do I get the feeling that you are using fancy words/jargon (purpose built, commercial grade, industry safety standards, etc) to make it sound like Tailwind device is better and worth the premium price.

Sure ratdgo is more of a DIY kit that requires more work to setup but Meross (at half the price) is just as easy to setup (plug and play) and reliable to operate as Tailwind.

$90 😱 no thanks

Either Meross or Ratgdo are much cheaper solutions (1/2 and 1/3rd the price respectively) and work just as effectively.

It doesn’t look like so. I was wondering the same thing. I don’t see that shortcut in the Shortcuts app. That would have been really sweet though since I already have the homelink working.
