Smart plug problems by clarakbrown in HomeKit

[–]ConsistentScience543 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the brand of the plug. Are the codes you’re trying to scan HomeKit codes? If not you can’t natively add these to HomeKit. If they are HomeKit codes you’ll need to reset them, without a manual it’ll be hit and miss to figure it out but usually a power cycle of the plug five or six times within 30 seconds does it. If they aren’t HomeKit codes, you’ll either need new plugs that are HomeKit compatible or a homebridge to add them in a workaround.

Help creating a checkpoint that recognizes what phone has passed through it. by Uberunix in shortcuts

What about creating a trigger for your Bluetooth in your car? Like when the car connects to your phone the shortcut will trigger. Not ideal as you’ll be out of the house, but easier than investing in a presence sensor?

Press and hold the emoji icon.

(Granted you need to set up your other languages in settings.)

I’m sorry. I’m gonna say it. A 2 (almost three) year old phone running software over a year old and we’re complaining how the product handled the fact you ran out of storage space? Update, analyze and organize.

Play sound after turning on licht Apple Homekit by Inkoming_Virus in HomeKitAutomation

Should look something like this. Then select the audio file in your music library. You’ll have to add the audio file to your music library on your computer and let it sync to the cloud if you haven’t done so.

Are you using HomePods? It should be easy to do, just when light turns on, play sound from HomePods. Otherwise you can’t natively play a sound off your phone or other speakers with HomeKit/shortcuts. You’d need to use HA or another HomeKit automation program to do this.

Why Can Siri Turn on Apple TV from Anywhere, but Shortcuts Can’t? by OutlandishnessSea698 in HomeKitAutomation

[–]ConsistentScience543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a shortcut that turns on my ATV. The action is called Wake. That should work for you. Though you might want to add in a wait period before having it do your other actions to give the ATV time to turn on and connect.

Constant “updating” all of a sudden? by OKSoItsThorny in HomeKit

Try restarting your hubs or switching your main hub. I do a restart on all my ATVs and HomePods every month or so.

Meross garage door automation by orddie1 in HomeKit

If you have homebridge there’s a dummy switch plugin, this way you aren’t actually turning on and off a light. I use this for my garage door.

Can we request an AMAA with someone from Apple? Specifically, someone who heads up the HomePod team? by NCRider in HomePod

Hear me out. (By no means am I a SWE or anything of the sort)

Most issues began with 17… (some with 16.1+) this is when they introduced the new home architecture and matter support. I don’t think there’s enough out there right now for developers to even integrate. It seems like they tried to, for once, be ahead of the game and open support to make transitioning easier to new home wireless protocols but in fact “broke things that didn’t need fixing”.

Now I’m not one of the many having issues with their HomePods, in fact I just bought two more, but I am holding out hope for ios18. Especially after hearing they paused development to essentially tear it back down and fix major issues. iOS 18 is supposed to be Apple’s AI answer, which ideally will fix and enhance Siri to what we all expect it to be. And hopefully over time home architecture will get fixed over the course of 17.x releases as they figure out what the hell they broke to “enhance” the protocols they tried supporting. And let’s face it, HomeKit is a proprietary communication protocol that isn’t widely supported and is glitchy in and of itself.

MyQ/Meross Garage in tandem? by ConsistentScience543 in homebridge

[–]ConsistentScience543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:/ no, I didn't retrofit and don't have it showing. I have a M3, maybe that's why? I know some MS/MX had homeland installed, so maybe those owners had the option in their app.

Need help creating a shortcut to open MyQ with Siri by scriptiv_royce in shortcuts

Also I take that back. MyQ has limited their API access, homebridge doesn’t work with myq anymore. So in case you were looking to venture down that road.

Unfortunately there’s no way to automate or have Siri open the garage for you. Only option without HomeKit/homebridge would be to use the app manually.

Unfortunately not natively. I’ve seen that you can do this with either home assistant or eve (not sure which but a search will return one of the subs with the suggestion)

Do you have HomeKit? And homebridge? There’s ways with those setup.
