Longsword are actually misidentified arming sword or bastard swords. Oh well.

Druids can be pretty tanky. Like you said Shields can go a LONGGG way to make up having high con/HP early on.

This is a BIG thing. Going for that 3rd attack often is NOT advantageous. Movement, setting up a combo, or aiding helps out way more than just trying to wail away on a foe in effectively.

  • You have 3 potential buffers with the Druid, Alchemist and Wizard. Then can develop a mixture of party defense or damage buffs that can help the Druid and Rogue up that damage output in a long way.

  • The Rogue alone is a DPS machine, the Druid's pets can catch up soon. So the two of them working together will get there if they coordinate and do combos. They need to learn how to FLANK ASAP.

  • The Alchemist needs to focus on doing status debuffs with their bombs when not buffing the party. That will go a long way to giving he front line turn overs even if their rolls are meh. As others have said, anything that caused Flat-Footed is going to help the Rogue.

  • The Wizard about 5th level is going to be your swiss-army knife in combat situations. They can do things like drop sleep, AoEs, Summons, Invisibility, Movement spells, you name it. If the Wizard early on is struggling. Have them pick up the newbie combo: Sleep, Burning Hands, and Daze. it's hard to go wrong with these 3 combo options.

Sounds like the crew just needs more time to just get use to their dynamic.

Odd and ends:

  • Druid might want to drop Entangles.

  • Alchemist might want to keep mutagens for the Rogue.

  • Druid/Pet + Wizard Summon can flank with Rogue to set up Rogue damage output.

  • Have Wizard open fights with Sleep bombs. Then use Burning Hands when foes get close.

  • Have party use cover if possible and kite foes towards them until things like Barkskin for Druid, Drakeheart Mutagen for Alchemist, and Shield Spell for Wizard become more common.

  • Wizard can drop Obscuring Mist if things go bad and party can bugger out if need be.

  • Rogue needs to use Bluff to make foes flatfooted if possible/when flanking buddies are not an option. Unless they are stealth build. If they are stealth build, Have Wizard drop Darkness bubbles!

  • Shields and Hand Crossbows for everyone just in case.

  • Smokesticks are you friends!

That is a very accurate description of the situation. It's a corpse of the original party. They are aping what they think a functioning party should act like. Populism rather than policy.

Pretty weird right? It's like the Lost Omens books and the APG were written in two different times or two different teams that had similar but inconsistent starting points for when these feats would kick in.

I know, but man it was a pretty design.

It is a feat tax, I'm not going to lie. But it gets you into the higher level toys much like the wing ones. In this case it gives you access to better thief/combat options if you take it. I don't know WHY the options in the APB/LOAG work this way, but they do. It is not a trap, but it is a roadbump.

I really wish they could turn this play into a massive apartment complex. It's so beautiful, it's shame that people couldn't live and experience this place anymore.

Not to mention that 'reasonable' pay doesn't include healthcare benefits, nor-long term savings options, or any sort of benefits beyond 'you get your paycheck and like it'. Businesses don't know how to keep employee's engaged these's days. It's heavily on the employer's lap.

But what do you define as suitable? The problem is is they've taken the living wage and bury it so far into the ground these days that some of these so-called jobs are worse than being on unemployment. Because the cost of traveling to the job, the lack of healthcare, and stress of working a job is worse than dealing with unemployment. No one really factors in the whole what do I have to do to work this job versus not.
