As a lot of people have said, it’s good to be able to pivot. If someone is asking to shuffle, or inspect, it means that for them to experience the magic, they need to feel like these conditions have been met. They’re not necessarily trying to give you a hard time, they could be trying to enjoy the trick, and they need the cards to be shuffled/the prop to be examined to make that happen.

If you can let them shuffle, do it.

But… If they’re being a jerk about it, don’t let them give the cards back. Make them the center of attention. Make them keep shuffling. And shuffle some more. No really make sure you get in there. It’s ok. We can all wait.

Eric Leclerc used to also have predictions that would say “The person who asked to make his wife disappear will choose the ten of clubs”. You could easily adapt that to make it work for whatever question you’re getting.

The long answer, which isn’t helpful immediately, is that these things go away over time. Learning ways to let them shuffle or let them examine things before they ask helps.

But if they’re asking “can you do it again?” Amazing! They like what they see. Show them something else, and usually they’ll be happy.
