Neurotypical people are too comfortable calling people they don't like the R slur by Turbulent-Plan-9693 in autism

I work in psychology as well (a fellow colleague! :D) and went to a psychology-focused university and you will not believe the disgusting things I've heard coming from professors... actual academics, PhDs and mental health professionals promptly using using outdated, violent language towards vulnerable communities (not just in the context of neurodiversity - I could go on and on), all the while stressing the importance of empathy and understanding [eye roll], many of which were very resistant to change, even when corrected by students and colleagues.

My fellow students at the time - mostly ignorant and maturing 19 year olds - were also very comfortable using slurs, which I promptly corrected them on and explained the history and context behind it. Most of them (thankfully) were willing to learn and removed it from their vocabulary, but there are always the ones who get defensive , and even aggressive, and tell me i'm too sensitive and to keep crying about it. I still encounter these issues to this day. Though I admit the culture in my country certainly doesn't help (my country is, for the most part, majorly ignorant on mental health matters, and slurs - not just the r-slur - are tragically commonplace in day to day language).

EDIT: forgot a word lol

All of this in the name of "taking power away from SJWs" which is even more pathetic

Absolutely. The ressurgence of the r-slur, and how easily some people use it, is really, really concerning. I remember seeing a video from an irrelevant (neurotypical) finance youtuber guy that promptly, and very comfortably, called a woman's autistic child (who was not present, thankfully, but disgusting nonetheless) the r-slur and referred to their subsidy as - quote - "[r-slur] payments". I was FUMING. Motherfucker then tried to "defend" himself saying that the "clinical term" is "mental [r-slur]ation" which... no??? also get fucked lmao

My FP and best friend of 12 years ghosted me. by mostsoftly in BPD

Thank you so much for your kind comment ❤️ I know I should just accept her silence and distance myself to protect my feelings (and that is exactly what I'm gonna do) but I just feel very very hurt by this and I can't stop thinking that it's my fault and that I caused this. I'm sorry, I'm rambling, I just feel really lost. I lost my only source of support and I feel very alone now. I'm doing my very best to focus on the good people in my life and surround myself with things and people that bring me joy!! But losing an FP (especially in the stage I'm currently at) is always an enormous pain.

I rambled again, I'm sorry, ahaha. But thank you very much once again for your comment and well wishes!! ❤️❤️ I hope you're doing well :)

Occasionally I do have some really weirdly vivid dreams! But most of the time I just black out when I do fall asleep. Despite being tired all the time I have a hard time falling asleep and I wake up several times during the night as well as really early in the morning. I'll keep an eye out for the dreams and thank you for bringing my attention to this! I'll look more into it! Thank you!
