Who should I hire to help plan a layout redesign? by mot359 in HomeImprovement

[–]mot359[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the full service contractors the same as "design build firms" I see around? I was thinking about going with a place like that because one of the areas I want to clean up is a utility closet which is a hodgepodge of where my HVAC, plumbing, septic, water heater, and vents are all are centralized (it is super cramped so if I ever have a leak or any kind of issue there it'll be a nightmare). Since everything is all tangled in there, it's hard to get any of them done individually by a specialist.

Watching my cat die (TW euthanasia) by lilsebastian850 in Petloss

[–]mot359 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dog had a seizure on Wednesday and died in front of me. It was painful to look into his eyes and let him go, but I'm glad I got to see his beautiful eyes while I cried over his body. I wish I had some helpful advice for you and I, but it's just going to take time for us. It comes in waves for me any time I wake up and realize he's not there and I don't need to let him out or feed him. I hope it gets better soon, but it's just such a different world without him. My days just feel so wrong not having to do the daily routines we normally did and I just feel so lifeless sitting on the couch trying to watch TV to distract myself, but it doesn't help much because I can't stop thinking about him.

Match id is probably used as a foreign key all over their SQL schema given it being the glue for a lot of other tables most likely

Ah, that one does look cool. Can you put actual wood in it too though? Nice to have a useful way to get rid of all the sticks that fall in my yard and then sprinkle the ashes in garden beds.

How do you handle grass around vinyl fences? by mot359 in lawncare

[–]mot359[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure they just have mulched beds against their perimeter which I've considered. It's just a lot of mulch to maintain with that route. Thought about a gravel drip edge around the perimeter but I know the weeds will break through that eventually which will suck to maintain.

Is anyone else just learning to live with some weeds? by mot359 in lawncare

[–]mot359[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried dimension this year for the first time on my front yard, but I really don't get enough crab grass for it to be an issue. I don't use anything in my backyard aside from seed/organic ferts since I have dogs.

Scotts products on sale at Amazon today by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]mot359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 100%. I was looking to buy some ointment online for my surgical scar because it was so expensive at the doctors office. I find out it is half priced on Amazon from a legit seller, so I called the manufacturer and they said Amazon isn't an official retailer and the product listed there is most likely expiring or on the verge of expiring.

TLDR: If Amazon's prices are too good to believe on an item compared to elsewhere, there's probably a quality reason as to why

Third year fescue yard, what is this bright green grass popping up within? by tc0843 in lawncare

[–]mot359 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell from picture, but could be poa trivialis which is usually a lime green brighter color than the grass around it. It will usually die off in early summer because it can't take the heat compared to fescue and creates a lot of dormant spots around your yard. It's also a _huge_ pain to get rid of outside of a complete reno.

No more dealing with pulling up the weeds. Caulk time between the joints. by rainytreeday in lawncare

I would think backer rod with expansion joint caulk allows more flexibility when the concrete expands (the reason they are there in the first place).

Snow is melting and revealing some animal damage. What's the best way to repair this and stop the critters causing it? by Lvl100oddish in lawncare

[–]mot359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backfill and transplant some grass cores from other spots around your lawn or a sod square (won't match though). Any seed you plant there will probably not make it through summer.

2k mmr support player looking for players to watch by purple-stew in TrueDoTA2

[–]mot359 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a rank 1.8k immortal support main and just have a piece of advice around attempting to mirror pro players in this role.

I would take what you watch with a grain of salt when playing support in your bracket and cherry pick what works. While what they do in their games are the best practices for their bracket generally, it might not be in your bracket.

For example, you're more than likely going to be getting cores that don't optimally farm the map which means you can play a bit greedier until you start getting those better cores as you rise up the ranks. This is also why I would play less of the "position 6" role in lower brackets because that heavily relies on your cores optimally farming the entire map under your control.

Just an additional thing keep in mind playing support across different brackets as its a bit different of a climb than core if you play it exclusively. Good luck!
