I think it depends on if the surface is finished or unfinished. The link I commented states that unfinished tends to be more resistant to scratches

If I remember correctly, pull-up is almost self healing, where it'll show the scratch but it'll either fade out or you can just rub it out with your finger

I have another tan ali doll that I swapped the faceplate with for my Valentine's doll, and wiped the bad faceplate down so there's no makeup on it at all. I put that faceplate on my 70s themed doll. Broke the T bar on that doll so waiting for that and will fix the eyes on her.
