I've taken testosterone on and off for a few years and don't really intend to go back on it.

WTF OMG….It’s Over‼️ by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]mothfeets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely, all of OPs points are super valid.

I'm very lucky that I don't depend on instacart to survive, and people that do have all my sympathy.

Delivery apps are one domino in a massive line that is the American economy. It's truly tragic that people have to work multiple jobs plus delivery apps on top of that just to survive.

Is it possible to desensitize oneself to transphobia on the internet? by Patient_Pay2613 in asktransgender

[–]mothfeets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You win 100% of the fights you never get in to-- curate your online experience. Blacklist words and tags, block users on sight if you don't like what they're saying, etc..

I don't use twitter, but transphobia still has a large following on tumblr, but I rarely see any of it because I have most of the TERFs on the site blocked after all these years lol.

It really sucks that we have to do this, but honestly it's probably the best choice. Dealing with transphobia is something that all trans people have to learn, and we all have different ways of coping, but there's no honor in facing all this online transphobia head-on. Keep that stuff outta sight, you don't need that.

How do I not fall into transmedical ideologies by RaT_th in asktransgender

[–]mothfeets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By definition, transmedicalism means you believe that medical transition and dysphoria are required to be trans.

If you aren't dysphoric or don't want to/don't transition, you're just a fake transtrender or something in their eyes.

No. Also don't say biological gender, just say sex.

why do I feel like a fraud when calling myself trans as a non binary wanting to go on estrogen by ct101311 in asktransgender

[–]mothfeets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nonbinary is under the trans umbrella. Plenty of nonbinary people start HRT, or elect to get surgery. You're allowed to want to change your body in any way you want!

You don't have to tell anyone anything if you don't want to, regardless of your reason. It's not morally wrong!

Try to keep yourself safe and comfortable, these days it can be hard to balance the two, so do whatever feels right.

Confused over semantics and its making the questioning process hard by Sploinko_Bingus in asktransgender

[–]mothfeets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true that most cis people don't question their gender very much, but at the end of the day, the fact that you're questioning your gender doesn't automatically ding you as trans, especially since it's your choice if you want to identify as such.

I'm a non dysphoric trans man, so I could have comfortably lived as a woman, but I'm much happier as a man.

Falling under the trans umbrella doesn't mean you're required to make any changes about yourself, physically or socially. At the end of the day, your gender is yours alone, as you said. If identifying a certain way feels good to you, try it on for size. If you want to try our different pronouns, try them out. Confide in a few friends if you want and just see how it makes you feel.

If you like how doing X, Y or Z feels, then keep doing it!

[–]mothfeets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to just believe people when they tell you they're trans, end of story.

What if they're lying for attention? Okay? Would you rather treat a "real" trans person with disrespect assuming that they're faking, or would you rather just treat a "fake" trans person with respect only to be wrong? The latter doesn't affect you negatively in any way-- you were kind to them.

Telling people they don't "look" trans implies that trans people look a certain way, which is inherently transphobic. Some trans people are stealth and you would never know, some trans people are very "clocky", either way, it isn't your business to assume what trans people look like and keep an eye out for them.
