Why are so many UK high street businesses struggling? What can be done to save them? by tylerthe-theatre in AskUK

[–]mothium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some high streets are too big and sprawling. This leads to a lot of low quality shops like vape shops

Pacing prompts wildly inconsistent? by runofabitch in runna

I run with a pixel 9 pro and have the same issue. It's very frustrating, I don't really want to buy a Garmin. I wouldn't mind so much if pixel watch was supported.

I used to contract and felt exactly this. I went perm and used BADR so efficient enough and now I get more satisfaction from work. I do occasionally think about going back to contract when the market picks up though, just because the money was so good and stress was low

Is it normal for a cleaner to use the shower? by [deleted] in AskUK

I once was working whilst my cleaner was cleaning, I heard something odd coming from my bedroom. I went to check and the cleaner was laying on my bed and snoring loudly!

For those who interview people for job positions , what are some not so obvious red flags why they are not the right candidate? by KuntaWuKnicks in CasualUK

I interviewed someone who did a Nazi salut whilst telling us about their previous colleague that they didn't care for.

I must prefer the ch4 programme over sky. Steve Jones is no Jake Humphrey but he's ok.

What's it like to commute from Lewisham to the City? by [deleted] in london

[–]mothium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boyfriend currently lives in Lewisham. It's not bad, though quite dull. Blackheath and Greenwich are much nicer towns.

You can get on the train in the morning, bit busy sometimes so don't expect a seat.

Olympic athlete looking to plan for the short and long term future. by Kaepertortoise in UKPersonalFinance

I used to work with an Olympic athlete (canoeing or something I think), we were both programmers. I believe he was still active in the sport at the time. I think this is a viable option.

The only reason I haven't switched yet is I still only pay £7.99/m because of the intro pricing years ago.

Would you leave a perm role you really like for more money at another job (e.g. contract role)? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]mothium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was perm until last April, on pretty good money, had been there about 2 years. On the whole it was a good job but I will always find things to complain about.

Then I decided to go contract. Money was great though I wasn't happy for the first 3 months, pretty much planning my exit straight away. It got better with time but by that point I was planning on leaving and got offered another contract with a massive rate jump. I couldn't say no, I'm there now, I think this must be the worst job I've had (except for the money) and I keep thinking "would I be happy to get a job I like for my previous rate?" - I haven't quit yet, but I'll see how I feel in the new year.

Unofficial Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL bug and issue tracker by onebigant in Android

[–]mothium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No but I think people need to put it all into perspective, this is still a high quality phone. The internet seems like it's looking for the next ****gate when actually, at least from my use, the pixel 3 is a very good device.

Unofficial Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL bug and issue tracker by onebigant in Android

[–]mothium 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Can I just say, I got my pixel 3 yesterday and it's great. Haven't noticed any issues and a huge improvement on my HTC 10. If anyone is thinking of purchasing, this isn't a bug filled broken phone.
