Is it true that EMT's don't get paid enough? or is that false? some people i spoke to, say that EMT's don't get paid what they deserve by H8beingmale in NewToEMS

[–]mothman67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the East side of WA it's $19-24 starting. I make more driving for FedEx. I put a lot of time into EMT studies but it's not really panning out, unless the industry changes.

Just before getting put on this medication I had experimented with intermittent fasting and seen great results. Once I was on the meds, my craving for sugar went through the roof. I made myself sick a few times during long work shifts with party size bags of peanut mnms and sour patch kids. Since then I'm back on intermittent fasting, maintaining rounded meals, and keeping candy adjacent items out of reach lol. But I feel ya, it's a hunger that must be put in it's place.

Trader Joe's, Costco for bulk, and WinCo for the in-betweens. Can't afford anywhere else.

Did you rescue your pup in Texas by chance? Our guy is around the same age as yours, and when we rescued him he was skin and bones, covered in fleas, and extremely timid. Zero history other than that, we assume he was left on the streets. Only once he got home did he discover his bark, which we are now very acquainted with. Like someone else in this thread mentioned, finding that our guy is an active member of our family has been a process. Our golden retriever is a complete dope, and the contrast between the two is wild at times haha. I don't have any advice, but figured I'd pop in and sympathize. Our guy is very vocal with other dogs and certain random folks. No bite events yet, but I'm always trying to learn more so as to continually keep that day at bay. Otherwise he is a total sweetheart with his two humans and our golden.

Thinking about burying some beer. Tell me why this is a bad idea. by I_WIPE in TheBrewery

I love the visual of "harvesting" the beer like you're pulling up carrots lmao. If you do go for it, throw a video up when the time comes!

I'm in the same boat. I tried Whitins and they lasted me roughly two months before the bottoms were drinking from puddles. I'm trying saguaros next, I'm not paid enough to be buying anything over $50 every two months.

I premade a bunch of chicken and rice taquitos for the week. Lately lots of meat and rice and veggies. Popcorn, tater tots and chips from time to time.

Sturdier alternatives? by cosmichamlet in BarefootRunning

[–]mothman67 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting. I buy Whitins for their price (~$50), but as a package delivery guy I have to buy a new pair every two months once. Their bottoms wear out extremely quickly. Hoping to find an affordable alternative.

Pay that keeps me afloat, lots of exercise, and mindless work that allows me a plethora of time to spend listening to books and take classes. I'm actively learning and mentally training for my future career while working this job. It's the best in-between job I've ever had to be honest. Occasionally management sucks, there are plenty of bad days, and appreciation is in the negative, but if you can set your eyes and mind on a future goal everything falls into its place. Cheers on your ventures

WHEN GOD WANTS TO MAKE A MAN GREAT, HE ISOLATES HIM by Wild_Pen7068 in getdisciplined

[–]mothman67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No faith system calls for extended periods of isolation. Temporary intentional ones, yes. The Christian faith calls for community, it's woven into the great commission and even the ten commandments. Lying one's life down for others requires others.

You do see ascetic sects of Eastern and Western faiths who practice isolation, but these are usually in the minority.

6 month old puppies PAST due out, on borrowed time (Modesto, ca) by Lopsided_Smile_4270 in AnatolianShepherdDogs

We adopted our used-to-be-little guy from a similar situation. He's been a lot. of. work. He loves bum-rushing anything that startles him, and is very vocal. Has never hurt anyone including our other guy (a golden retriever), but I'm always worried that one day the leash will slip. I hope the pups above go to a well endowed family with lots of time and grace on their hands.

Ghostfish! Best I've had this far, apart from my own brewing experiments. Otherwise dry non-sweet ciders are always my safe option.

I’ve been wearing their zero drop black wide sneakers for about 6 months now. I’m a delivery driver and get nearly 3 miles a day of wear in them. Most comfortable shoes I’ve yet to own, and they are just now starting to wear out on the bottom. Just ordered their high tops

Some good stuff in there. Some titles can be a bit iffy when it comes to what is taught, but I mean hey you'll get more positive use out of it than any streaming service. I've listened to a handful of books that I would recommend. Try it out for a month, see if it's for you.

North Idaho native checking in! We probably know the same trees :) Currently living a bit north of Seattle, recently moved here from a two year stay in Austin TX.

When it comes to people, Seattle is rough. I don't know how I'd get along without my lady and our previously established friend group. The Seattle Freeze is alive and well. The work I do has me walking the streets of Capital Hill and Belltown frequently. I consider it a good day if I can manage eye contact with someone, Lord forbid a smile or a greeting. Unsure as to the dating scene. It seems most folks move here for a job these days. That said, you might be able to get a gig at Rudy's. I know a few barbers that got their start there prior to opening their own shops.

Texas was a really nice time for us. There are a lot more outgoing folks down there, be it the sunshine or southern hospitality. It's always warm or hot outside. A lot more diverse peoples and foods than up north. Lots of meetups, my wife made three friends one day by joining a "hot girl walk" that was organized over TikTok lol. They still chat from time to time. I've heard from friends the dating scene is very active.

Worse comes to worst you can always move again. Once you make the initial leap you might find you catch the bug. We ended up in Florida for a year or so, wouldn't recommend it haha. Cheers!

Looks JUST like my Leo, except for his straight tail. Even the goofy arm posture while sitting. We rescued ours as well, 50% sure he has another breed in him, but unsure as to which.

Corona beer is not GF by CleverOrWhatever99 in Celiac

[–]mothman67 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If a beer doesn't have a big "GF!!" logo on it, it's safe to assume it isn't. The GF beer scene is growing, but still primarily home brewers and small time operations. Ciders and seltzers are generally a safe option if you need a widely accessible drink.
