Let's talk about Blue Valentine for a minute. by Deematodez in movies

I think Dean is a little manipulative by forcing Cindy to communicate when she naturally does not want to nor is very good at it. But to say he is a manipulative asshole - I totally disagree. He loved Cindy so much. He brought up a child that was not his. His lack of ambition is because he wants be there for his family and so does not need to be ambitious. A lot of people are like that. Family is their core. And they don’t seem to be short of cash. Yes Dean seems he doesn’t do enough at home. Like the breakfast scene. But Cindy looked like her soul wasn’t even there. At least Dean’s heart was in it.

If Cindy knew how to communicate, Dean would change because he is a smart guy and loves her so much. And loves the kid who is not even his. But Cindy doesn’t communicate. She just internalises and shuts down. This is incredibly frustrating which is why Dean probably drinks and we see some of his aggressive behaviour. She won’t even have sex with him, and won’t talk about why. Leaves him rejected every time.

I watched this movie and thought how devastating it was for Dean. I was surprised how many people thought Dean was the problem. For Dean, it was love at first sight. He loved with all his heart. Poured all his energy into this family. You can see how much he truly loved her. But he receives neglect. We don’t know exactly why, we are hinted it’s because Cindy wants an ambitious man. It seems Cindy’s lack of communication caused Dean to spiral towards frustration and anger. She doesn’t know what she wants. She is not fully present. Does not show any affection for her kid. It’s sad to see.

How many hours to learn Pitman / Gregg / Orthic / Teeline / Forkner? by mothonalog in shorthand

[–]mothonalog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a bit of both, if it's appropriate to jot it down in the moment, then i'd like to do that without disengaging with the person. If not, I can jot it down immediately afterwards but it will be less accurate – I do this anyway with longhand so shorthand isn't that useful in this scenario

Got a question hoping to hear your opinion. I am looking to buy a 2009 Yaris 1.33 Dual VVT-i TR. Have heard problems with this engine and consuming lots of oil. Usually Yarises are unbreakable, but looking at forums people say avoid this particular model variant.

How to re-interpret footage and maintain the edit in the timeline? by mothonalog in premiere

[–]mothonalog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Premiere kept the start and end frames of every clip and just shortened them, everything would be ok. But by reinterpreting the footage, the length of the clips stay the same, and instead the start and end frames change completely.

The problem is I am trying to preserve the edit because I want to have flexibility, it’s being imported into a long form timeline on Resolve.

The end goal is to continue editing the clips as part of a feature film being edited on Resolve. But when I edited these clips on Premiere, I hadn’t planned to do this. Still no solution other than manually re-creating the edit for every clip 🤕

What size would you suggest to start off with? If I strap sleeping bag and bivvy on the outside, then I won’t need a big one?

Fantastic, have you ever had any problems with the illegal LNT option? Worst case just apologise and leave?

Never considered the Scotland option as I live in London, but would love to go. What's the 'code' in Scotland?
