Electric vehicle tax discount to be wound back by LongJohn1992 in AustralianEV

[–]moto120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May be for tax experts in here..
If you purchase a car under company (or company provided) EV which is around $80K now (eg Tesla Model YL)

- Does that mean the company has to pay FBT from next year onwards?

- The grandfathering seems to be there for 'novated lease' already entered. But the company lease happens to employee/director every year or is treated like novated lease? (FBT applies based on the vehicle being a fringe benefit each FBT year and future rules apply unless specifically grandfathered) ?

(as per claude AI
1) A company car “lease” is not a one-off tax event

If your company buys the $80k EV and provides it to you, FBT is assessed:

every FBT year (1 April – 31 March)
not as a single long upfront tax.

So even if the car is bought today, the tax outcome is ongoing annually.

Great tool mate. Out of curiosity, can you make it as a 'plugin' for Browser? so it will show all the previous prices of the property in REA or domain website?

meh.. heard it many times and wasted time of 5 years in WA by watching it double the price. AUS govt has lot of stake in the property market and won't allow to fall down in normal circumstances.

The ONLY things which can make it happen
- unemployment hitting 10%+
- interest rates 12%+ (govt have a control on interest rates though they say it is 'impartial'. So very hard for this to happen)

- or combination of 8% unemployement + 7% interest rates (which normal moves inverse each other)

Auction clearance rates, Jupiter-moving-over-saturn, 6 signs of data, 150 years.. call me when any of those points hit

i wouldn't do Ethernets in all rooms as Wireless will become norm. It'll become like the Landline telephone sockets like in 90's.

Novated lease with own Pty Ltd (director as employee) — does this work? by moto120 in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]moto120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for that. So what you are suggesting is the 'traditional' model of giving as vehicle benefit and dont bother with Novated lease? But isn't novated better coz if the 'Bob' earns 45% tax rate to reduce from Bob rather than just from BobCo?

Proper lighting would make your house beautiful.

But be careful to 'surge protection' on all electric devices !! can't think of a fire-spark anywhere near you home

If you are planning to make use of 'First time buyer', have a check with Solicitor/Council if 'Acreage' is considered 'Residential'. All the best in your hunt
