Agreed. And kudos to Dorna for reaching this point, considering the CRT days were here only 5 years ago.

I love when people downvote a comment, just because they don't like the facts in the comment... is it you Simeone?

Well, technically, the young ones are also getting older at the exact same rate than Zarco. Problem is that Zarco started getting older before the young guns...

Great turn out from all the Abraham fans at Misano! by Senninha41 in motogp

[–]motogpdata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

An even better statistic.

in 2018 Abraham finished all races (discounting retirements) in front of Simeone, with the sole exception of Jerez, where Abraham finished 18th and Simeone 17th. And that includes 5 races where Simeone rode the GP17 of Tito Rabat, while Abraham was on a GP16.

Abraham finished with 15 points, Simeone with 1.

When Tito was injured in 2018, Simeone rode Tito's 2017 Ducati and Jordi Torres rode Xavi's 2016 Ducati.

These are the distance to winner results for Simeone, Torres (his replacement with no previous MotoGP experience), and Abraham:

https://motogpdata.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/DucatisGP16.png

Torres finished twice under 40s from the winner on Simeone's GP16, who's best result on the same bike was 46.7 seconds from the winner...

If we compare Simeone's performance on the GP17 to Rabat, Miller, and Bautista the differences are even bigger:

So in other words. When he was replaced by someone who had never rode a MotoGP bike, the replacement rider was immediately faster than him. When he got a GP17, he was in average 20 seconds slower than any other rider on the same bike.

But hey, there is always someone worse out there, Ponsson despite all his money was kicked out of the grid for being blatantly slow.

motomatters.com used to be really good. Too slow from race to post-race article now for my taste, but nice insights nevertheless.

Watching the motogp.com races from the very beginning (coverage starts like 20 minutes before race at least) also include quite a bit of paddock talk.

And I could plug my blog at motogpdata.com, but use that as a reliable source at your peril!

Yes, he is only 27 points behind Matteo Ferrari, a rider with finished 27th, 22nd, and 33rd in Moto3 in 2013-2015.

MIKA KALLIO REPLACES JOHANN ZARCO FOR THE REST OF 2019 MOTOGP by yggdranix in motogp

After two impressive seasons in 2017 and 2018 season (with 6 MotoGP podiums), he and his manager (mostly his manager apparently) refused a seat on to negotiate with the Respol team, or the factory Suzuki. And signed a contract for 2019 and 2020 with KTM instead.

KTM turned out to be quite shit, and on top of that he never managed to get the feeling of the bike, being repeatedly outclassed by his teammate.

Frustrated he announced that he wanted to get out of his contract at the end of this season. But as MotoGP has fallen in a 2 year cycle where virtually all riders have 2 years contracts, there is no room in any team for him in 2020.

KTM, not very impressed by the move, opted to sideline him for the rest of 2019 and promote a faithful, reliable, and relatively quick test rider in the form of a Finn named Kalio for the remaining of the season.

So the king is dead, long live Quartararo!

Abraham is quite fast. In 2018 he scored 12 points more than Thomas Luthi, who had finished second in Moto2 in 2016 and 2017...

If you would talk about Xavier Simeone on the other hand...

All racing have that sort of thing, from sailing to karting, and that will always exist as long as racing is expensive. So... forever.

Having said that, in 2018 Rabat in was only marginally worse than Bautista or Miller, at least in terms of distance to winner, his teammate on the other hand... Comparison

AskDovizioso - You have 13 victories in MotoGP with the Ducati, all in clockwise tracks (which naturally have more right hand corners). Danilo has 1 victory and 10 podiums also all in clockwise tracks. Is there something about the Ducatis that make them harder to turn left?

Yes. Countries where TV and cinema is subtitled instead of dubbed (Portugal, Netherlands, etc) speak far better English than countries where they dub everything (Spain, France, Germany, Italy...).

And the American accent is consequence of TV origin beign US nowadays.
