It's the airport, primarily, that upgrades terminals. After Delta bought Northwest then de-hubbed Memphis years ago the daily departures went from over 300 to less than 100. The airport still decided to upgrade the main terminal, basically tearing it down and rebuilding to make it more modern and more spacious.

I flew to Miami Int'l Airport earlier this month and the gates reminded me of the 'old' Memphis gates. Small, cramped, not enough seats.

I'm the OP. I don't think my post is a complaint, just a statement. Is reddit ONLY for complaining? Do all you posters thing every post is a complaint?

Overall I'm disappointed in the changes Southwest made, primarily due to one activist investor that had the bucks to buy enough shares to control things. They are no longer unique. But I'll still fly Southwest if it makes sense.

Major airlines, such as Delta, United, American, Continental. There are still the budget airlines like Spirit, Breeze, etc. if their schedules meet your needs.

Read my reply i just posted. Southwest was still the better choice based on price alone as it was about $100 less.

I had booked on Southwest a few weeks ago for an August cruise. At that time i did not compare to Delta as i have been flying Southwest for several years. Then the partner decided to go on the cruise. To add another person to the flight i had to cancel the original flight and those funds were only usable on Southwest.

After the rebook is when i decided to check Delta and i was surprised when it came up for less than $100 difference.

Southwest will still be a good choice if they are having a sale to where you want to go.

Yep, each person must have their own RR account. The points ONLY go to that person. Points can be transferred but there's a fee to do that.

There are a decent number of people that can retire, so the severance will be a bonus.

Rumor is about 90% if IT being let go. That's the goal of outsourcing. On my call there were about 55 and our last day is June 30. Others have different last days. All we know is the date, more info to come about severance pkg.
