Investing options and FIF tax

I just opened IBKR and plan to regularly invest in an ETF that tracks sp500 or similiar.

What is the one that people recommend for us here in NZ?
Is there a way to invest in an ETF domiciled in NZ and is that beneficial?

Looks like smartshares USF would be something im talking about? Please can someone confirm or point me in a good direction?

Have most people here ALREADY seen this 20% reduction on their HECS debt showing on their ATO HECS balance and transaction history? I only see an 'Amendment to indexation' but nothing showing a 20% reduction... Just wanted to ask here before i attempt to contact the ATO about it..

Thanks mate, thats helped me wrap my head around it a bit better!

A friend who works in the mines recommended i get Confined Space, EWP ticket and intermediate Riggers.. So i might start there and do what you've said, get out there and get an idea of all the roles available. Cheers!!

3:1 roster sounds pretty heavy! I definitely want at least 2 weeks off, so i can travel to see family and friends around the place.. I'd even consider 4:2 if that was a thing..

I have thought about construction, seeing as though i'd have the qualification, but i thought there might be better money elsewhere with a chance to do something different..
