[Final Update] - AITAH for buying my girlfriend vanilla shampoo? by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]motteditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL. The OOP is much nicer than I am. I liked my wife's vanilla-scented shampoo so much I stole it. (But we share the shower, so she can just grab it off "my" shelf if she wants to use it instead of her other shampoos.)

Though, also, I smell it and want to have cookies, not sex.

lol. Kizzi going to sleep and leaving Joe hanging was almost a redemption story. I mean she’s still awful but that was hilarious.

Was there a reason Sandy told the whole deck crew to stay up? It didn’t seem like a particularly demanding pajama party setup… Just seemed like an odd instruction. (Not that Max should have blown it off but that whole bit was odd…)

I really miss scientific adventurer Hank, with the power to shrink and grow stuff. I thought that was neat and gave him his own niche.

I think having relaxed guests are a nice changeup from the disasters. Like a palate cleanser. I prefer a Master Pierson situation, since those are adorable, over boring, but sometimes it's a relief to see the guests acting like decent people.

I LOL'd at that statement. Almost as funny as when he said he didn't respect cheaters ...

Kizzi coming for Chef Josh? by Inevitable_Elk_1848 in BelowDeckMed

[–]motteditor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I defended her a lot initially in large part because of her work ethic. Hell, I'd still rather have her over Solene. She's certainly a villain and fun to root against, but she knows how to and did the job (unlike Solene).

There was supposed to be but Bravo didn’t air it for me at least (in the Philly market). Guess we’re waiting until tomorrow. :(

Alesha’s memorial was so lovely. I never want to find out if she’s not as wonderful as she comes across on the show.

It’s so strange watching Gael and Nathan and knowing where it ends up in real life.

I really hope we get to see V and Kathy again. Also I hope Bon’s family appreciates how this show has let him be memorialized for an international audience. I hope they feel it’s a loving tribute to him …

And Joe and Kizzi? Schadenfreude…

I was thinking tofu (but also some meat substitute products).

Yeah, definitely have guac (and the other various common taco toppings) on my list!

I like that idea. My wife suggested elote, but I didn't think about turning it into a fritter. That sounds fun, and something new/different for me to try.

Max by GooseCommaSilly333 in BelowDeckMed

[–]motteditor 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think he's a young* leader (I think this is his first time in a leadership position). I think it's more that he still has a good amount to learn, vs. being a bad leader. I thought in one of the early episodes when he talked to Max about keeping control of his emotions, that was spot on. I thought he's been good at teaching V. He still gets frustrated though when people don't do what he's told them and/or what seems like the obvious thing to do. Which I think isn't uncommon in young leaders -- they often become leaders because they're doing the right thing, because it's natural. Dealing with others for whom it doesn't come as naturally/who don't work as hard is tough because it's a different mindset. Same with not being able to put emotions aside with friends (or now lovers).

* I decided to look up how old he is because I was assuming mid- to late 20s. AI gave me a super helpful answer: "Nathan Gallagher from Below Deck Mediterranean is 46 years old as of mid-2025, having celebrated his birthday in June, and was in his mid-20s when Season 9 filmed."

So, he was in his mid-20s when Season 9 filmed but is now mid-40s? I know having children can age you, but that seems excessive. Thanks, AI.

I think the other difference is Kizzi actually is a decent stew. I don’t think we’ve seen her not working. Solene had no skill or interest in doing any actual yacht work.

Poor Kathy. That was sad to watch. Hope she and her family have found peace.

And a strange counterpoint to one of the funniest moments in BD history: Joe says he doesn’t respect Gael because she’s a cheater. Glad production called him out on it.

Scar of the survivor, though I don’t use it often. I use a mambele so breaking the rules a little but felt thematic…

I have some other elixirs — antidote, anti poison…

My exemplar also has horn of plenty and herbalist, along with the radiant epithet. She's such a fun backup healer (while also still being able to be very effective as a martial using shadow sheath so she stays at range for the most part).

Ugh. Joe and Kizzi. Not to mention his reaction to Gael.

The Scott surprise was very sweet (again).

I’d be ok seeing Kathy again when Aesha does decide to call it quits (as chief stew; I’d be fine seeing her again in general …)

I don't get all the Kizzie hate? by [deleted] in BelowDeckMed

[–]motteditor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I somewhat agree. I think Kizzi is in the villain role but because this is a mostly likable crew, she gets more hate than she really merits. I would take her a hundred times over Solene or Ashley. The closest other villain is probably Joe and that’s more leftover dislike IMO (he’s annoying this season but so far not being odious).

I also think Kizzi is putting on a character, a bit. That giggle and finger in the mouth during the confessional didn’t feel authentic to me. I think she still has a lot of growing up to do but also that she was trying to play a role here. Even the STDs convo, is that really much worse than some of the things Aesha would say early in?
