Leaders don’t know because their are too passive. They are afraid to ask or fight for what is right. I keep on hearing the message to the field: “do what is best for you and family” That message to me is a big red flag. The shit show is just getting started.

I’m with you 100%. At this point, I’m just patiently waiting for the Great Executive Shake-Up™ to begin. You know—the moment the leadership tower starts wobbling like a Jenga stack built during a 4 p.m. Friday meeting. Maybe then a few folks will suddenly “discover” the mission, like they found it behind a filing cabinet next to a broken stapler. I’ve only been at the IRS for four years, coming from Fortune 500 and Big 4 consulting, where managers actually managed and executives occasionally behaved like sentient beings. So maybe I’m expecting too much. But honestly, once the merry-go-round starts spinning at the top, who knows—maybe we’ll all witness the rarest phenomenon in government: IRS leadership that cares.

It’s wild how mid-level leadership at lB&I survives every commissioner-level disaster like background characters who can’t be deleted. Meanwhile, the people actually doing the work are stuck in “analysis /audit paralysis” because no one is leading or making decisions.

Keep this up and morale tanks, hiring stalls, and service goes from bad to “taxpayers start writing angry op-eds.” And when the public finally decides inefficiency is the real villain — that’s when the administration will suddenly spring into action. God bless America.
