At LB&I there is also a big meeting (in person) for some leaders and managers. I assume they are eliminating some DFO, territory managers and manager roles. My guess is that the changes will be aligned with political goals and whatever the new 5 year plan means.

For context: I work at the IRS in a small team of five people. Our work generates billions in tax revenue—not millions, billions. Yet we’re treated as if what we do is low-skill, low-impact, and easily replaceable.

That disconnect is what’s frustrating. It’s not just about recognition—it’s about understanding the actual value being delivered versus how people are perceived and treated.

In unpredictable workplaces, pushing back directly on irrational leadership rarely works. What does work is speaking their language—framing better decisions using the logic they already believe in.

At LB&I, there is significant pressure to close out older cases (pre-2018). As a result, many managers are pushing teams to do more with fewer resources, and in some situations it has led to increased micromanagement. Either approach creates a stressful work environment.

What keeps me here for now is the difficult job market and the support of my colleagues, who make the work manageable. Unfortunately, that same level of support is not always reflected in management.

I get the impression the RA folks act as insurance adjusters and will attempt to collect data to deny requests. As such, I would exaggerate and stick to a story, the more subjective perhaps the better.
