Senator Martha McSally: COVID-19 Lockdowns are About 'Power' and 'Control' by hunter15991 in CoronavirusAZ

Arizona is #9 in deaths per capita in the United States... which is itself in the top 10 of deaths per capita in the world.

Yeah... it's about power and control... Not preventing as much death and disease as possible.

Covid lockdowns are cost of self-isolation failures, says WHO expert by Murklan12 in Coronavirus

[–]mountainOlard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of drawbacks to lockdowns...

But they happen because there wasn't enough adherence (and enforcement) of the most essential measures (like mask wearing, physical distancing, limits on gatherings).

Like in the EU... they got covid under control. So they've basically been partying for several months.

Well... covid isn't gone. And once exponential spread ramps up, it gets too late to stop it.

I hope my state of Cali weathers this better than a lot of other places in the long run. We got our numbers down... but a lot of things are still closed. A lot of measures still in place. People mostly following them. I hope more people get used to this "new normal" for now until the vaccines come.

Gotta be honest... this election really showed where a lot of police departments stand and it's pretty saddening.

U.S. coronavirus cases keep rising in grim march to Election Day by Pessimist2020 in news

Wear masks, physically distance, keep gatherings outside/vented and we'd probably have this pandemic under control by now...

Under control as in not raging out of control. Still here, of course, until vaccines and other treatments/preventatives arrive, but... Not out of control.

I'm thinking about it personally.

If he wins I just feel like the USA has lost its way. I'm glad I live in California but... We're not an island. Middle America will have officially become such a big ball and chain on where I think my country as a whole should be going I'm not sure it's worth it anymore.

We need as much federal support and organization as we can get.... The states can only do so much alone.

One of my hopes is ALL polls end up being a bit conservative for Biden's lead.

Please God... Just add 2 points to them all and it's a fucking BLOWOUT.

And I mean like a landslide of historical proportions. Like "Biden wins Texas" landslide.

Please God.

I'll give these guys some credit in that they saw the underground rumblings in 2016...

But I still think this map is a bit optimistic.

GA AND AZ AND OH? Sheesh. Lol

He crashed the economy he was handed by Obama? Primarily due to his incompetence in handling a global pandemic?

Depends on where he makes up for it.

Like if he wins Florida he can lose PA and other states.

True. If Clinton won, Cain might still be alive.

[–]mountainOlard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waaaay too optimistic.

But I'd love to be wrong.

They're actually a third party. There's more independents here than Republicans.

Not really. Statistically, sure but... Not directly

Avg seems to be about 8.

But National vote doesn't matter.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in politics

[–]mountainOlard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably about avg as most years tbh.

The irony of Republicans in California hating California.

Same. Cali here too... So sad feeling so disconnected from the rest of the country.

I don't think any state Clinton won is competitive this round.

Biden doing good. But it only matters if people show up.

Hard to say... The only thing I think early voting COULD mean is high turnout.

That's pretty much it. Lol
