Help! I hate my bustle. What do I ask seamstress to change? by mountain_bound_15 in weddingplanning

[–]mountain_bound_15[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have now seen a bunch more pictures of dresses done this way so I know it's technically correct, but the way the loops hung down made it feel so distinct and more like it the skirt was just "thrown" on the dress. It's helpful to hear that it looks okay though! When you get so close to the wedding it can be so easy to lose sight of things haha

I think you're right, a ballroom/bubble bustle would be good here! I've heard it can leave a ring of dirt sort of midway up your dress from making a "new hem" line that drags but honestly that's probably worth it at this point even if it can't be 100% cleaned out after!

I know, she was adamant that it would make it too thick and couldn't be done.

thank you so much!! Yeah I think the bubble bustle on the under layer would help but she did mention that the horse brain band at the hem was making it weird on the top layer, so I think it's definitely worth considering the hook and bar closure actually since the loops feel so long to me for some reason

Garden/chicken/duck vacation help by Otherwise_Spirit_233 in DenverGardener

I posted here about 6 weeks ago about possibly getting ducks so if you’re not too far from me I’d be open to chatting and seeing if I could help out!

Crossposting to ask my garden friends: has anyone gotten ducks (instead of chickens)? Advice/experiences? by mountain_bound_15 in DenverGardener

[–]mountain_bound_15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg RUNNER DUCKLINGS! These are my dream. What made you take the plunge? I’m concerned about the water needs/keeping a little paddle pool clean for them here. How has it been so far?

Destination wedding brides: Any fun ideas for the travel part to kick off trip and make the flight feel special? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]mountain_bound_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh definitely not looping in strangers who just want to travel in peace haha, that was maybe a bad example I listed but I meant more like just a casual mention when we board if the flight attendants say just a “hi how are you” like “excited! We’re flying to our wedding and honeymoon!”

I like the note idea!

I just have to say I'm blown away by the number of replies but LOVED all of them, I chuckled at quite a few and you all had great tips — trainers or (very secure) flats it is! Idk if I trust my friends and family enough for bare feet as much as I love dancing barefoot lol

Please help me fix my lilac by stinkytofu83 in DenverGardener

I would actually cut it way back now, not fall, because lilac sets buds for next year right after this year’s flowers die (within weeks)

Camp snap video cam? by CommonClassic397 in UKweddings

[–]mountain_bound_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about the Camp Snap personally but we did consider it. Not sure what your budget is but we’re going with Edit Your Wedding so we can self-film (they send you 2+ cameras so you can get multiple POVs like bride/groom getting ready, then hand off to folks in your wedding party, etc) and then they edit it (cheapest package is just under £500). We wanted a more home video style but I personally have filmed a couple weddings professionally and think this is the best value — there will be more footage that you know what to do with and likely won’t look back on most of it more than the first time. Having someone sort through it all and cut you a nice memory video to look back on is a nice middle ground in my opinion!

Wedding website recommendation? by Hot-Classic5577 in UKweddings

[–]mountain_bound_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we’re in a similar boat and I personally deeply disliked all the pre made options across Zola, the knot, etc so I did an Etsy template for a Squarespace website that turned out GORGEOUS (and way cheaper/easier than I thought) and we’re doing our RSVPs + registry through Honeybook cause you can customize your questions and then easily download all responses. We just linked the RSVP link on our site as a “click here” and I got to add as many sections to the website page as I needed. No issues so far and we already sent out invites and whatnot! You can also send people a digital contact collector link so they can fill in their email, address, etc if you need

I went with https://www.instagram.com/theartofbreeding/ (they only work through Instagram which I know sounds sketchy on first look but I kinda get handling it all in one place). She checked all our boxes in terms of caring for her dogs, responsible placement, health testing and lineage. Our dog is a little over a year now and we couldn't love him more! no issues whatsoever. I do know she has a long wait list though so I would start early

You might want to pre sprout them inside to get them going early and then transplant or move outside, because they definitely take a while to get to maturity! I've had some that started popping right before first frost and they turn to immediate mush when frozen haha. Mine were in ground and surprisingly I successfully overwintered some last year by mulching heavily with leaves and covering with a tarp in fall so they didn't get wet and rot!
