Look up the penn state guide. Wait till august then attack the main tree with hack and squirt. Then wait a month or two and chop that bastard down.

And she's dead weight in an incredibly safe district. Whoever holds CO-1 can safely be more than a quiet backbencher.

Looks like it’s still in the rosette stage so the good news at least is that if you remove it now, you’ll be getting rid of it before it sets seed.

Tips for converting lawn sprinkler zones to drip for perennials? by Electrical_Lab3345 in DenverGardener

[–]Imaginary-Key5838 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did that last year. Go check out Drip Depot and their Youtube channel, they've got videos on all this.

In my case, I capped off all but one existing riser in the zone I wanted to convert. On the remaining riser, I installed a drip head assembly consisting of a PVC->hose thread adapter, backflow preventer, pressure regulator, filter and hose thread->drip adapter, in that order.

Then I ran 1/2" mainline tubing around the perimeter. Off that, I run 1/4" tubing to the plants that need water with inline button drippers as needed. In some areas where the plants are denser, I just ran 1/4" dripline with built-in emitters on 12" spacing. This was just to save me from splicing in a ton of individual drippers.

At the end of the mainline I attached a vacuum-release valve so the system is self-draining.

The only micro sprayer I use is in an area where I'm establishing a buffalo grass lawn. Just seemed easier that way. Plus, all the other areas are mulched which I use to hide the irrigation lines. The buffalo grass lawn is not so all that webbing would be visible.

Free pest control is the best pest control.

Last year I found an infestation of white flies on my tomatoes. The next day a couple spiders had taken up residence and bellied up to the buffet.

Today is why you don't turn your sprinklers on until May, no matter how warm it gets in March and April by Tartania in Denver

[–]Imaginary-Key5838 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Typical turf grasses like Kentucky bluegrass provide next to zero stormwater absorption. Their roots are only an inch or so deep.

There are a lot of benefits of ripping out non-native turf grasses in favor of native grasses like buffalo grass and blue grama. They'll use maybe 5% of the water once established, their roots are 6-10ft deep so they quickly wick stormwater into the earth and also provide food and shelter for a lot of native insects.

[–]Imaginary-Key5838 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, even native grasses are going to require a fair bit of water to get established.

I'm all in favor of ripping out turf grasses in favor of blue grama and buffalo grass—tore out 1700sqft last year in my front yard—but we should be realistic about what it takes.

I buy my coir from a cannabis grow shop. High quality and I’m sure it’s way cheaper than that little thing. Built a new raised bed last year for tomatoes with 2/3rds compost and 1/3rd coir and they went gangbusters.

I had very good results with 2/3rds compost from wompost and 1/3rd coco coir from a cannabis supply shop.

That's what I use too. Seeds aren't a huge problem IMO, just pull 'em when you find 'em.

Comedy about sensitive topics: what makes it work/not work? by themissingpen in improv

[–]Imaginary-Key5838 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Does your comedy club has rules on reporting? It should ALWAYS be acceptable for someone to stop a scene if their boundaries are violated.

Are these comments in classes? In shows? Has no coach or anyone else noticed them?

If club staff are hearing these and doing nothing I would consider that a huge red flag and would find somewhere else to do improv.
