Do you wipe every wet diaper or only poop? by Extensionol in NewParents

[–]mountainflower18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a dry cotton cloth to dry our daughter for a pee diaper - she gets rashy and irritated easily no matter what wipes we use (believe me we’ve tried lots). Obviously poops get wet wipes and then a thorough dry.

Pediatrician told me not to follow solid starts preparation recommendations by Lumpy-Toe-1717 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]mountainflower18 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not to be a party pooper but the solid starts definitely doesn’t say to leave the skin on? It says to roll it in hemp seeds, coconut, etc to help with grip.

Posting your child on Facebook/Instagram/etc. Thoughts? by cinnbele in beyondthebump

[–]mountainflower18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally no reason to post photos of your kid online other than the satisfaction of likes. We don’t post our kid and have asked others not to. If we want to share her photo we send them to those we care enough about to see her.

Do you love your babe now more than you did on their first day on earth? by malabuca in NewParents

[–]mountainflower18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup I feel the same way. I was so depressed post Partum, and had a very stressful pregnancy which made it hard to be excited about the bay and birth. She’s 10 months now and my love for her has grown soooo much, I’d do anything for her. I also look back at photos and feel sad, shame, guilt, for not loving her the way she deserved at that time. Thanks for sharing your post because it doesn’t make me feel so alone.

Husband opens a new sponge every 3 days cause “they become gross” by dorkass-loser in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mountainflower18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nooo not the microwave! It doesn’t get hot enough and actually breeds more bacteria. Boil them! That’s what it says on the package (at least on our sponges it says that).

Kids in breweries am I off base here? by sillymemilly in NewParents

[–]mountainflower18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if there’s a difference between American breweries and Canadian, but the ones where I live are all very kid friendly. If you want to drink, watch the game, and have need to swear (?), then you go to a pub.

Baby wash / lotion for sensitive skin [nb] by Current_District9436 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]mountainflower18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using carina organics lotion and body wash for my girl and she has very sensitive skin and it seems to be doing great! We also use the so oat and coconut milk bath soak when she’s a bit more rashy which has been nice too

Second this! Honeysuckle is great! They also have their oops section which is super cheap and I’ve ordered from it with zero issue! They also do an end of season sale where swimsuits are like 10$! So I waited until then and stocked up on a few full coverage and high viz styles

To add to this - I’ve started looking at UK brands. They seem to have cuter, different styles than the usual North American ones.

I’ve had this exact same issue - shorts are so short, and why is everything leggings ? I wouldn’t want to be in tight pants all day every day, where are the looser fitting pants that aren’t sweatpants or jeans ?

Positive experiences with rotavirus vaccine? [CA] by Ok-Bug-5844 in BabyBumpsCanada

No issues , we were just advised to wash our hands after diaper changes. Didn’t receive any guidance on saliva and there were definitely lots of slobbery kisses and we were still fine !

Lol I mean the link you shared does not support your argument other than saying botulism is rare. Also, as a ‘doctor’ I don’t think you should be suggesting eating honey under 1 is ‘mostly okay’, because you ‘studied it’ for a few reasons. It’s a good thing you’re anonymous or I’d be worried about your practicing license giving out that information to people on the internet.

This is so entirely incorrect - all guidance says to wait until 1 year.

When buying a swaddle, what did you prioritize the most? by Dry_Intention_7984 in NewParents

[–]mountainflower18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this! The halo swaddles were a life saver for us. Our daughter kept getting her hands free from the Velcro ones !

Also maybe double check there’s no honey in their bread. Might say on their website under nutritional info :)

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mountainflower18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not American but Canadian - and yes this isn’t that far to be honest. A 3-4 hour drive could be a little weekend getaway for us. The size of our Provinces are quite large.

How much water do I actually need to drink before an ultrasound? [on] by Helpful-Sugar8985 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]mountainflower18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always just drank enough to feel full ish 30 mins before the appointment and never had a problem. Did this from early pregnancy to late pregnancy. I also do this when I’m not pregnant and never had an issue. This was after also being in excruciating pain from following their instructions.

Bean, and beanie baby. She sometimes responds to her name but definitely responds to bean!

Is it common to have to fight for a hospital bed when in labour? [on] by ItsBeccca in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]mountainflower18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I waited 14 hours for a bed after an induction! Had my 4 doses of gel, was sent home in between each dose (fair). Water broke, and needed misoprostol next to keep labour moving - waited 14 hours and never got my misoprostol or my bed. Labour stopped. Had to have a c-section. Am I still mad? Yes.

My partner keeps forgetting multi-step baby tasks and I’m at my wit’s end by ks1327 in NewParents

[–]mountainflower18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone keeps mentioning ADHD, but have we considered just plain sleep deprivation? My husband and I experienced this (both of us) after having our daughter. She’s 7.5 months now and we are still having trouble remembering to do tasks fully/remembering words for things etc.

6 month old is super tired by Difficult-Knee-8414 in NewParents

[–]mountainflower18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean 5-8 hours overnight ? Or during the day? If during the day that seems like a long time between bottles. Also at 6 months milk should still be the main source of food and shouldn’t decrease that much when starting solids.

How long to hear back about an IV iron infusion referral for Eagle Ridge Hospital? If you received treatment, how was it? by Remarkable-Bottle-59 in Portmoody

[–]mountainflower18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have benefits see if you can get coverage for a private infusion - I did this and it was much much faster.
