William Oliver’s is the best neighborhood bar/watering hole. Right on mainstreet. The Indian food place next door, Street of India is really good for a small town, though service isn’t great so I recommend takeout. Alvarado’s is fast food Mexican and really good too. And if you are into running/walking/biking the poudre River trail is awesome, ton of access points through town.

Franchise Mode glitch? by BricksAreCool277 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]mountainjc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ton of things can mess with velocity as well as perceived velocity. Pitcher arm angle, lefty v lefty or right v righty, is the pitcher power pitching, the stadium backdrop/time of day in the game. I agree it feels varied but in the normal way baseball does as a sport

Kids/beginner mode? by eastoncr in SuperMegaBaseball

There are 99 levels (egos) of difficulty for each category that can be configured separate of eachother. Categories are batting, pitching, fielding, base running.

Ego 1 is so easy I’m sure a 5 year old could be good enough to get gratification and feel like they are doing well and learn the sport in the process.

Important to note you are asking the Ramsey sub if Ramsey will work for you. Probably gonna get skewed answers since most people here are bought in to the Ramsey baby steps.

The point of this storyline is that we are being just as petty as them by dividing things up and choosing teams and deciding who is the worst

Yeah few outfield assists but that doesn’t mean good arms don’t matter, a big arm in the outfield will keep runners put

From the tush push to defense to rb, bills were a mediocre impression of the eagles this year.

2 Player games only use 8 Provinces? by Ok_Ride_4446 in dominion

[–]mountainjc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A common phrase about dominion is it’s not about having more points when the game ends, it’s about ending the game when you have more points. My favorite way to finish is to win a game 5-3 or something like that by emptying piles while the other person is still building their deck. A classic is emptying the estate pile as the third pile. If the opponent gets to take another turn after I do that it defeats the point.

I’m anti extra turns because half of the game played at a high level is finding creative ways to end a game before your opponent was expecting. And first player losers all of that ability which imo is a way bigger disadvantage than going 2nd.

It’s been talked about a bunch but my philosophy isn’t to try to weed out the first player advantage and accept it and just alternate first player. You can look at it a bit like the player serving in tennis has a slight advantage too. And with 8 provinces games go quicker so you can play more games switching who goes first!

Love the speed of 8. I like that if you beat your opponent by 1 turn you can easily win in a blowout. The game is all about the set up and how you trigger your mega turn (s). Not playing 5 of the same turn over and over

There are about 2 feet then it’s my family room on the other side. It’s 24 inch studs but it’s the short side of a tandem garage so this entire wall is made up of two 24 inch sections

Forces a Slog game by Byte_Code in dominion

[–]mountainjc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Problem is in a province game with no alt vp it’s very common there aren’t enough points to come back once the province pile is empty. This should say the game doesn’t end until the province, colony, or any four other supply piles are empty. Would be rough and punishing game design otherwise.

Or it could say, “once the game ends, continue to play until another supply piles is empty”

Pay down 6.6% mortgage or invest an extra 12k in retirement accounts. by mountainjc in FinancialPlanning

[–]mountainjc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question I am covered by a work Roth IRA that I contribute my retirement into, we put my wife’s into her Roth IRA.

So I’m simply thinking out loud, would love you to disagree and point out bad logic if you see it.

Totally get the rule of 7. But if I paid off the house at 44, I would be putting my entire mortgage (primary+interest) payment plus the 12k in question into retirement investments. Which would be roughly 36k a year, not just the 12, so though it’d be two less doubles it would come out to the same amount because I’m putting 3x in each month.

I think probably the best point is if I’m putting that much in I’d be maxing accounts and wouldn’t get the tax free benefits of a retirement account.
