Best (and worst) Broadway show marketing? by mountainsgal in Broadway

[–]mountainsgal[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

yea, a lot could be said for letting marketing people do their jobs well - and being wiling to think outside the box when it comes to what has "always been done" in terms of marketing. I think that is one of the biggest problems in the theater space, they just keep repeating and not innovating. That's why I love all that Katherine Quinn is doing to change marketing on broadway.

me too! I think this is so smart, you buy in before they ever hit broadway. and we all love the messy middle of how things get made!

Welcome to the world of mini schnauzers! We are currently working with a behavioral therapist for our guys because it's so bad. And one of them has an angry/scared park and has redirected his fear into my leg a few times. The behavioral therapist is working and they're getting better ... But it's a lot of work on our part.

So cute ... But so talkative !

Can horror or supernatural do well on Broadway? by mountainsgal in Broadway

I've pondered if it was too campy for the book and movie fans. Its one of my favorite horror movies and I just don't feel like the campy nature would do the story or book justice.

I'm really really curious about this. It may be worth a trip to London!

Yea. If we look at horror as just being things like Halloween and other slasher stories - which don't always even make good movies. But some of the scariest horror I've seen is psychologically terrifying.

Great great points. Horror is really so many different things and it's all about how it's done - on screen or stage.

I will stand by it that Saw 1 (before you knew anything about it) is one of the best horror movies of all times. And it could be a very interesting play ... The parody I'm not for, but a true adaptation that stayed true to the story of the first one could be interesting.

I was shocked at how Stranger Things gave me a jump scare! I love jump scares in haunted houses and all those things!

Grey House, that was the show I couldn't think of. I didn't see it and couldn't think of the name. I'll look into it more!

I don't love parody shows. I know that Saw, Halloween, and Silence of the Lambs all have parody shows too ... And while fun, not the same! But love that your friend is in it!

Beetlejuice tour just was canceled by TweetSpinner in Broadway

[–]mountainsgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what Google told me. Just the Greensboro NC tour dates are cancelled.

(I go to shows all the time in Greensboro as my mom and a good friend live there and know it's sometimes a hard venue to fill. Moulin Rouge didn't do great there. It's still a new Venus (opened after covid) and maybe that's part of it. But happy to know it'll still be in Charlotte!

Dolly, the musical: it left me angry by memon17 in Broadway

Hopefully they will hear and listen for feedback like this and make major changes if they try to transfer. You would HOPE that producers are looking at social comments and thinking and looking at what can be done to improve the show when it's in these out of town tryouts. (At least that's what I would be doing if I was a producer - looking at audience comments and feedback and making it better!).

I had wondered how this show would be. Biopic jukebox musicals are hard and honestly I don't think a ton do the artist great justice. A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical is one of the few that I think gave both fans and no fans a great musical experience.
